POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
River of Darkness
River of darkness,
Flowing between rows of trees that are blotches of blackness in the night,
What spectres do you transport,
What secrets are you drowning along the way?
If I were to ride you,
To what temple or cave would you take me,
And would it be a violent landing?
Would I be able to crawl from the inky shore,
Soaking and wounded,
And would I then regret the trip,
And rave against my destination?
No, I don't think I'll be riding,
Not on a night as black as this.
Flowing between rows of trees that are blotches of blackness in the night,
What spectres do you transport,
What secrets are you drowning along the way?
If I were to ride you,
To what temple or cave would you take me,
And would it be a violent landing?
Would I be able to crawl from the inky shore,
Soaking and wounded,
And would I then regret the trip,
And rave against my destination?
No, I don't think I'll be riding,
Not on a night as black as this.

Now drowned in much frustration,
I cannot see what once I saw.
What is real?
It isn't shown,
to this heart of stone.
Before, there was no confusion,
Yet now, I fear I've found,
Nothing but a fool's illusion.
What is real?
It's hidden now,
to a heart that bows,
and bends, but will not break,
Numb with the...
