Take Everything (Help Me)
Everyone leaves eventually,
That, there is no denying
I believe that everyone you love
Takes a little piece of your heart
As each of them go
But they keep coming into your life
Gaining your trust
Breaking down your walls
I give too many chances
So it keeps happening
And I believe that it always will
Until all of my heart is missing
Scattered about with the ones
Who carry the fragments in their pocket
That cross my mind everyday
Until there is nothing left
For me to love with
Until I am nothing but
A lobotomized being...
That, there is no denying

Once You Start Missing Me
I saw a fire in you
But you saw nothing in me
Guess that's why you made your mind up
And decided to leave
Just know that I really loved you
And I'm missing you less each day
Yeah, it starts to hurt sometimes
But then I recall how you threw me away
I don't much like to think
But it's getting so much easier, you see
I even let my mind wander to your smile
And the feeling of your arms around me
I also think about your kiss
So innocent and so sweet
How it made me feel like I was home
How it made me feel complete
...
But you saw nothing in me

When you see them
It's as if they're an embodiment
Of all your hopes and dreams
Everything you could ever want or need
Your heart, personified
You could look into their eyes for eternity
Their touch melts all the pain away
Like the wax of a candle
They snuff out the flame
But sometimes, we don't always get to have them
And we've got to choose to go on in life
Feeling the void in your chest
And the empty spaces between your fingers
Where theirs should be,

One hour
Nine minutes
After New Years
I did not get a kiss
You wished me well
And said you loved me
No matter what and I didn't
Think anything, so I said I love
You too and told you to have fun
With her, your best friend that you'd
Been blowing me off for the past three
Days.
The next thing
I know, I get a text
Saying that we needed
To talk about us, and I asked
If you were leaving me again, and
You said yes, you'd come over later to
Explain.
I waited
And waited
And waited for
You to come over...

I still remember it like it was yesterday, Dad
The cloudy skies threatening to cry
And the chilly breeze rustling the papers
On the kitchen table
From the open windows
I sat at that table as you came in
Every so often to refill your glass
With orange juice and vodka
More juice at first,
But with each trip to the cupboard
The ratio changed until your glass was full
Of nothing but liquid fire
Until that liter was gone
Your eyes becoming emptier
Each time
I knew it was going to get bad, Daddy
So I left for a while
But when I...
