I am relatively new to poetry, my only experience being that on DUP. I enjoy love and erotic poems the most and like rhyming poetry.

Ode to a Rose
I saw a single red rose
Amid a sea of frost
She stood proud and strong
So much like you
Defiant in the face of winter
The sun glistened on her
Adorning her with
Crystalline drops of dew
Ruby petals so like your lips
I could scarce look away
But I could see
Despite her glorious hue
The weakening, wilting edges
Of her once virulent petals
Submitting to the inevitable chill
I couldn’t bear to watch her fade
I plucked her, put her close to my heart
To offer some protection from the cold
So...

Pain
Let me take your pain away
With these hands of mine
Let them touch you in the way
That will make you feel divine
Let me listen to your sorrow
With my patient ears
Let me promise a better tomorrow
And wipe away your tears
Let me hold your trembling being
With these strong arms
Banish all evil you may be seeing
Protect you from all harms
Let me banish all your pain
With the slightest word
It will all become inane
Once this voice is heard
I may not be the best
At any other thing
But...
With these hands of mine

Almost it seemed like spring
The warming sun and fresh rain
The songs of birds all around
And a lightening of spirit.

Through waters deep
And oceans wide
Across high waves
And turbulent currents
Our hearts find each other

Embracing, holding

I'm No Prince Charming
I’m no Prince Charming
Not some smooth faced beauty
My face is lined and tired
Wearied by both life and duty
I’m no Prince Charming
My hands are not soft as cotton
They are calloused and rough
Scarred by cuts long forgotten
I’m no Prince Charming
Tall, dark and handsome
I’m a mere mortal man
Not perfect but wholesome
I’m no Prince Charming
With perfect linguistics
My tongue’s more suited
To more coital logistics

To fulfil your every desire ...

I was one
I was one
Who kept it bottled inside
I was one
Who would constantly hide
I was one
Ashamed to speak
I was one
Never reaching my peak
I was one
Who always would fail
I was one
Who’s life seemed so pale
But then
I found a place for my words
I found a place to be heard
I found a place, a community as one
I found a place where a new life begun
Growing from a lost strange creature
Becoming part of my new life’s feature.

But that one is done.

Real rain
Muddy muddle
Coursing cold
Wringing wet
Be brave, be bold
Fear not, nor fret
Dodging drips
Rapid rush
Shoe slips
Gigantic gush
Change of clothes...
A must.
