POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I love the use of words and do as I am able to celebrate them. If I can paint a literal picture or impart emotion, mission accomplished.
Loves of Mine
Poetry is written to display our passion
The longing of our hearts and the goal of our mission
Yet in all the time I have been painting with words
I have yet to mention a love in my world
So in order to rectify such a heinous mistake
I will speak about it now with no further delay
Please indulge for a few moments, never too long
As I go about now to set right what was wrong
I remember the first, for I saw them on screen
A tale of four teenage brothers who were all half shell and green
Before long they were followed by the Autobots’s war
And I...

Radiant
A warm glow of joy
You look at me with love
At your touch my burdens are gone
Weight is lifted from my shoulders
I breathe
I feel love from you
Important, valued, cherished
My inner self is restored in your eyes
You are soft, but strong
Your body fits as if it were made to match mine
I am pacified with your smell
The feel of you
Lips trace my skin and would have me melt
I feel as if a true man
Secure
Safe

In Desperate Need of a Power Nap
As much as I may be reticent to admit it
I’m not as young as I once was
I’m not put out to pasture by any means
But I can’t see any hour of night simply just because
Not ten years ago I would easily pull an all-nighter
Getting two or three hours, maybe no sleep at all
Today I’d be absolutely useless
With less than six hours of good sleep I’d fall
I can still run when I’m prompted
Though I may regret it tomorrow
I can give as good as I get in the moment
Next day I’m drowning in sorrow
I’m not ready to give up my resilience
I should have more...

Mr. Hyde
I’m an observer of people, yet I go unseen
At first I took it as an affront, but then saw it my strength
I bear witness to those around me
I see as they scatter about their lives
Thinking about the errands they have to run
The person they have to see
The one they are trying to avoid
The person that they hate
People miss the world around them
If they would only stop to look
Through the dirt and the muck there is beauty to behold
But few stop to look
Or care
Drowning in their selfishness they pass by their brother
The man who...

Getting Out of My Own Way
I am the textbook definition of an introvert
Trust me, I even looked it up
I keep to myself and say very little
Going through life where I simply hush up
I am often misconstrued as haughty
Disinterested or angry with others
I use three words instead of using seven
So direct and short in my words that it bothers
I am more aware today of the way that I am
Though I appear cold that is not the truth
I bear emotion and care quite deeply in fact
I have been this way ever since the days of my youth
I open up to a small group of people
But still the...

Love Rediscovered
Love lost is hard
I wish it on no one
To look and behold
Then have it no more
Knowing your time is done
Your heart feels empty
Carrying the blackness of void
You scour the earth
To determine your worth
In the absence of what you enjoyed
Then one day a hand reaches
Against judgement you take it
It pulls you along
Tender yet strong
It shows that inside you will make it
Life is seen as with new eyes
Memories recalled once thought lost
Each step you take
Is progress you make
In accepting pain well worth the...

All of Us Star Dust
Bits of myself are scattered through the cosmos
My being nothing more than star dust
Part of the world yet one set apart
One who originated from the earth and its crust
A cog in the machine of a social combine
I play the role I was destined to play
I observe those around me in life as they go
Each with their voice and the words that they say
At odds with myself I am stuck in the middle
Wanting to belong but still be unique
So much to the side that I have befallen myself
I do not say much but sit back and see
No wonder I feel as much as I do...

I Still Search
Secluded
Aside
Alone again
At the end of the day it’s just me
Paths will cross for a moment
But it doesn’t really last
I search again
I look
I wander
I want to find the connection I’m missing
Maybe the problem is me
Am I too withdrawn
Too bored
Maybe I don’t share enough to interest
Keep too much to myself
Maybe I sound distant
Uninterested
I don’t intend to be it just comes out that way
Most of the time
I still search
Not content with things as they are
Hoping to find something
Somewhere...

The Arrival of Autumn
At long last the heat gives way
Coolness falls as the very first touches of autumn are seen
Leaves have started to change
They fall
The breeze brings with it a soft chill on the air
Mixing with the sun’s rays there is a
Perfect balance
To sit in the afternoon sun
With the earth shedding the summer
To lay and rest in the shade of a tree
Would be the place
Where I would want to be
To rest
And bask in the arrival of autumn
Coolness falls as the very first touches of autumn are seen
Leaves have started to change

The breeze brings with it a soft chill on the air
Mixing with the sun’s rays there is a

What I Would Say to My Dad
I don’t know you as I would choose to
Much in the same way you don’t know me
You keep to yourself most of the time
Only certain parts of you can be seen
I don’t really know any tales from your youth
Or stories of how you became a man
All I know is what I’ve lived with you
Was that at all according to your plan?
I’ve heard more about you as you have told others
When I just happened to be in the room
Why you didn’t feel it important to share before
To know your thoughts I wouldn’t begin to presume
From you I have learned quite a lot

Late Night Movie
You and me on the couch
Taking in a night movie
Your head in my lap
I look on you and start stirring
Your look is so soft
A tank and fuzzy house pants
Hugging your feminine curves
I’d resist you but just can’t
I trace my fingers along your silhouette
Taking hold just under your waistband
Play with it there for a short sweet second
Before taking full hold of your ass with my hand
My message is clear and you respond in kind
Your hands find me there right next your head
It’s just a minute before I’m ready to go

Speaking with No Restraint
I don’t know if you would really understand
Once you heard what I had to say
You’ve known me as one way for all of my life
There is no comprehension that I wouldn’t just stay
I’ve kept things inside for far too long
You never truly saw inside the real me
A shell that was walking this earth in my stead
Through the crowd of all of my friends, no one even bothered to see
I was hiding behind my self-made walls
Holding my own thoughts hostage
Quiet and calm was my public demeanor
True feelings and thoughts were held up in bondage
Slowly but surely...
