Distilled Belief
Theres an alien seeking asylum somewhere inside of me
Its hiding silently somewhere between the flesh and the bone
As long as Im alive and well neither one of us is free
When it finally escapes this cell, will he be engraved in stone?
Were it as simple as drinking wine from the golden cup
I would have felt Jesus in my veins when I was a Catholic child
But no matter the untold confessions, the prayers kept me looking up
And wondering if the Lord is no more than imagination running wild
Millions have forged words on their study of...

Seasons Fall
Each night underneath the moon
Imagining your hand holding mine
Every sublime summer afternoon
Walking together in the sunshine
I want to see the color of your skies
After a breeze makes the clouds depart
Skies I see in your wide blue open eyes
Reflected back from within your heart
The flame within the orange orb
This candle waits for the birthday cake
Burning brighter than fireworks in the Park
On Tuesdays hot summer night by the lake
The hollow headed monster rides once more
Headless maybe, but not nearly a heartless soul...

Silence of the Lamb
Will the silent choir refrain their praises
When the Rabbi echoes repeated phrases
While the lost recalled his previous teachings
Whispered in eloquent sermons of ancient preachings
Who has been listening to all The One can see?
While singing his names, their silence frightens me.
While followers prepare for the walking of the damned
With a gun, end the days of terror on the lamb
Was it justice took his life or revenge long delayed
When rejoice filled the night and everybody prayed
Who am I to judge the death that set us free
While praising the...

Evolution of Expression (The ink runs dry)
I vividly recall my first time, long ago, in the 70’s, I touched it, rolled it around in my fingers and let it pour out onto the paper with it’s well lubricated tip. Yes, it was ecstasy, my very first time writing with a Pilot Pen. Oh not just any Pilot Pen, but an extra fine tip Pilot Pen. Yes, yes, YES! I can still feel the smoothness of it’s ink as it came out of the tiny, prickly point. I was not prepared for what was to happen to me that day and so many days after that. I knew I could never go back. My pencils were never again to break their points in those cast iron behemoths attached...

Great Unknown
Some people reach inside themselves
To learn the great unknown
Still others crawl inside their shells
Not wishing to be shown
I want to turn my insides out
And solve the riddle soon
I wish to know what life's about
Before I reach my tomb
A lifetime is so short
And so what of our souls?
Do we stand before God in court
Facing a fate foretold?
Existence hangs upon a thread
Which dangles endlessly
So what will happen when I'm dead
If I don't hold the key?
It won't be long until he's here
I have no time to...

Pass On True Freedom
The fear of wrongdoing
Set ablaze in brimstone and fire
Unbind indulgence first
Pass on the freedom to desire
Only when a choice is made
Can truth set a soul free from the liar
Virtue stagnates in church
When lessons are preached to the choir
The fence before trespass
Constructs a mountain to trust sought
Hands tied behind the front
Holding back sin but not the thought
With no choices to make
The battle of innocence un-fought
Leads not to temptation
But further from the lessons untaught
Set ablaze in brimstone and fire
Unbind indulgence first
Pass on the freedom to desire
Only when a choice is made
Can truth set a soul free from the liar
Virtue stagnates in church
When lessons are preached to the choir

Truths That I Refuse To See
Lately all I see
Is what enters through my eyes
If I saw deep inside my heart
I'd be in for a surprise
But I deny new love
In hopes of touching yours
When I could have it all now
If I opened up the doors
Trapped within my own heart
And lost inside my mind
But I fear not what I may lose
I fear what I will find
The emptiness goes on
into infinity
And yet my mind is filled
With truths that I refuse to see
I could have the love
That requires a closed door
But I'd rather have the kind
That...

The Fool That Never Knowed
Sometimes it’s hard to tell
the difference between
what’s real and what’s pretend
Did you mean to flee the scene?
Was I just an accident
waiting for you to happen on me
Did you mean to spend the rent
when I told you love is free?
You promised me so many things
Not one was ever true
I’m always the fool who believes
what I would not do to you
It was supposed to be forever
From the day I shared your vow
Now our story of love is over
So what do I do now?
It all seems so ridiculous
I can’t pretend to know...

Unwilling To Let Go
Can you feel the silence
Of vibrations gone unheard
From the beating of my heart
Though it never spoke a word
Yet you know how I feel
Can you read my open mind?
tHis light penetrates closed eyes
Even if your heart is blind
The truth will set us free
Through beliefs we cannot know
tHis light, living eyes can't see
Life: unwilling to let go
Of vibrations gone unheard
From the beating of my heart
Though it never spoke a word
Yet you know how I feel
Can you read my open mind?

Even if your heart is blind
The truth will set us free

A Grave Half-Empty
You can’t imagine my pain
A ladder to infinite loneliness
Another rung breaks with each step
As the depths rise up around this grave
With no death to fill it’s hollowed ground
No corpse to fowl the sweet scent of desire
No flowers adorn the unknown site
Where unborn love grows beyond the rim of darkness
While insecurity feeds tireless shovels
Soiling the ground I look up to
Piling higher toward a suffocating collapse
I would fill my lungs with each choking handful
Dropped from the fingers of lovers never touched
Felt only in the...

Night Sky
I've soared through the night sky to cast a rainbow
The storm's off in the distance caught in the wind flow
No thunder can shake the love from my heart
No lightning can keep us apart
No wonder you have inspired my art
