Limbo
We’ve all been in Limbo before,
The space between single and taken,
But I swear, it all gets old,
Not having a known direction we’re heading in,
If we’re headed anywhere at all...
... do we have a clear destination?
Situationships trump relationships these days,
No one wants to commit,
More comfortable with just sometimes,
Straddling the fence.
Catching feelings along the way,
But have to keep them tucked away,
Tucked behind the prideful facade,
Pretending that being half loved is okay.
Denying our human needs,
Like...

His Truth
Mirror mirror on the wall,
Line the girls up & make them fall,
Dick em down, & tell them lies,
Hint here, hint there, DL Guy.
Secrets kept, take it to the grave,
Lies of love make the girls behave,
Eyes on the prize, heart full of lies,
Don’t get tricked by the DL guy.
Mirror mirror on the wall,
He lines em up, so they can fall,
Give him cover, so no one can see,
The real truth about his sexuality.
Kiss the girls and make em cry,
Leave them with questions, asking why,
Always come up short, still they try,...
Line the girls up & make them fall,

His Skin
His Skin.
I am a black woman who loves a black man,
One so gentle, so loving and kind.
I’ve prayed for this man, but now I fear for him as well,
Because his skin could be your target at any given time.
With my eyes I look at him, and all I can see is love.
But through your eyes, you look at him,
And all you can see is some thug.
My man does no harm, because hate doesn’t live in his heart,
You see him and you are afraid, but to me he’s God’s Finest Art.
So when he leaves me to go about his day, I am anxious & afraid... ...
I am a black woman who loves a black man,

Tit for Tat/Resentful
Tit for Tat/Resentful
It’s hard to tell and hard to say,
I wonder which mood I’ll get today?
Will he love me, spite me? Bury his claws under my skin?
Will we get through this phase?
This confusion?
Maybe he has to punish me first,
Maybe he’s trying to drive home his point,
Resentment has such an insatiable thirst,
And I hear before things gets better, they sometimes get worse.
Maybe I can take the small jabs on the chin,
If that means it’ll work out later on....
Maybe once he’s past his frustrations we can keep moving along. ...
It’s hard to tell and hard to say,
I wonder which mood I’ll get today?
Will he love me, spite me? Bury his claws under my skin?
Will we get through this phase?
This confusion?

Make it make sense,
What are y’all doing?
Ass & tits...
& Online talking shit,
Like NOTHING else is going on.
Like EVERYTHING needs validation,
Sharing quotes of “love & light”,
Yet still so vile inside,
But from a post, you can fake it.
On the socials, ppl focus on the next persons’ pretty filtered plate,
And that’s the problem,
You let your stomach get upset, growling with envy...
Comparing and contrasting your own life with some strangers’ controlled content...
Or even worse, jealous of your friends,

I hear you talking,
I hear what you’re saying,
Not sure what you want me to do...
Cause I been here, and I been waiting all this time...
Trying to show and prove.
Being loyal when I can’t get that same from you,
When you can’t help yourself,
Gotta have 50 hoes,
But wanna keep me too.
Knowing that I love you.
Knowing how much I care,
And seeing how it hurts my heart,
Yet acting unaware.
I can’t have niggas on MY line,
And you wanna clock my every move,

The struggle is real when you want something real.
I have single girl issues, let me explain how that feels.
It’s when if you’re too trusting, you’re sure to get hurt,
And if you’re indifferent, then he won’t want to put in the work.
Single girl issues, things you just can’t say,
Like, why is it that whenever I start liking someone, it never stays that way?!
Always so good when it’s new and when it’s fresh,
But give it six months, & neither of us is still impressed.
I’m going out of my way to get the excitement back,
But now he’s bored &...

Sociopathy
I am incomplete,
So I find others to fill me up,
Stupid fools, they let me too...
Can’t see the gaping hole in the bottom of my cup.
Their empathy singles me out,
Highlights just how hollow I am,
I stand in crowds but always alone,
The empty shell that never became a man.
I am incomplete,
So you’ll never know why I hurt you so much,
I am sick and it does the job for me...
Seeing you all messed up.
Surely if I have this power over you,
It must make me important enough,
So it’s your fault for letting me make you cry, ...

The Siren
I bat my eyes,
Make knees go weak,
Poor fickle fools...
Can’t help being drawn to me.
I can make them do whatever I say,
With a warning not to cross me,
Or in blood they pay.
The Siren calls... loud and clear,
There’s no escaping it,
You can’t block your ears,
Souls I gather,
Moans and screams I hear,
Ego fueled in the name of their fear.
Men can be weak.
Men are too easy,
They fall all over themselves,
For a chance to try and please me.
Wishing to posses my heart,
Hold, love & squeeze me, ...
