Poet Introduction
Dying my roots dark.
Disturbing
He turned the music up loud
and she danced along to the beat
of his fists
it disturbed the neighbours
but they still ignored it
and she danced along to the beat
of his fists
it disturbed the neighbours
but they still ignored it

Rabbit Stew
She boiled your bunny
but you still went back for sloppy seconds
and I wondered, did she sate your appetite
or just leave a nasty taste in your mouth?

Wanted?
Say it as it is
No hold ups
Or fancy prancing
I’ve a tough rawhide
So stand and deliver
What’s coming to me
I ain’t gunna plea for amnesty
From your chewing and spitting
Six- shooter mouth
Take another shot
I don’t want it watered down
I want to feel
The kick of the mule
Be rattled like the snake
Feelings aren’t for saving
You have to feel
The good, the bad and the ugly
Or how would you know
If you are dead or alive?
No hold ups
Or fancy prancing
I’ve a tough rawhide
So stand and deliver
What’s coming to me
I ain’t gunna plea for amnesty
From your chewing and spitting
Six- shooter mouth
Take another shot
I don’t want it watered down
I want to feel
The kick of the mule
Be rattled like the snake
Feelings aren’t for saving
You have to feel
The good, the bad and the ugly
Or how would you know
If you are dead or alive?

Big Eyes
Her blemishes were
what made her more beautiful
She was complicated
A chaotic soul
Sweet with a twist of sour
Her vulnerable heart
Patched up, Fragile, hurting
Hidden behind sad big eyes
And a missing smile
Secret longings
Buried in her depths
Within her raged
An inferno
She was a wildfire
Waiting to be release
what made her more beautiful
She was complicated
A chaotic soul
Sweet with a twist of sour
Her vulnerable heart
Patched up, Fragile, hurting
Hidden behind sad big eyes
And a missing smile
Secret longings
Buried in her depths
Within her raged
An inferno
She was a wildfire
Waiting to be release

A new day is dawning
magenta skies
will no longer bleed
the sun blinded our love
but it cannot deny my soul
I still have feelings for you for what it is worth
there is peace in the acceptance of the truth
Let the sun rise
I will live
will no longer bleed
the sun blinded our love
but it cannot deny my soul
I still have feelings for you for what it is worth
there is peace in the acceptance of the truth
Let the sun rise
I will live

vivid memories
I heard he’d died
in a drunken street brawl
fell and hit his head
recorded: accidental death
my mind rewound to the 7 years
of life we’d once shared
flickers of a colourful past:
darkest heart blacks, cruellest greens,
raging reds, raw wound pinks,
broken bone whites and bruises that came
in every colour of the rainbow
I felt remorse for him
but my eyes
remembered my oath
and refused to shed
even a solitary tear
in a drunken street brawl
fell and hit his head
recorded: accidental death
my mind rewound to the 7 years
of life we’d once shared
flickers of a colourful past:
darkest heart blacks, cruellest greens,
raging reds, raw wound pinks,
broken bone whites and bruises that came
in every colour of the rainbow
I felt remorse for him
but my eyes
remembered my oath
and refused to shed
even a solitary tear
