POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
My name is Maeve. I've been writing poetry the last couple years, although I've written stories since I was a little girl. My brain tends to scatter thoughts, so I write about any and everything. Give me a follow if you want to be friends.
The Ice Pick Queen
My hair was matted from sweat,
bleach and broken glass.
He drug me through the kitchen,
I grabbed everything in my path.
Then he threw me down the steps,
he held my hair in his hands,
gave me a little laugh
and told me to try and stand.
I'm frightened in the bushes,
he's searching with his flashlight.
In five minute's timing,
my life was changed tonight.
Blood running between my thighs,
my ankles ached from rope burns.
He said I brought it on myself.
Pretty girls must be scorned.

Heartbroken Girl
Faith is a fine invention,
I went against the world.
Thought fate was in my hands,
but I'm just a heartbroken girl.
The motions of Sinking birds
matched the lowness in my chest.
Their wings clipped in air,
tearful memories, I reminisce.
The forest was claimed as ours,
we had the world at our feet.
Mountains echoed our names together,
running through meadows of fresh wheat.
Romance was, by me, anticipated,
but I sit singing the blues.
Loneliness hovers like vultures,
and I can't keep hiding this bruise. ...

Death By A Dream (collab with adagio)
I blinked my eyes to only meet
sweet anesthesia's dysphoria,
My eyelids sealed profusely,
drifting off clouds of dysmorphia.
But the monster crept from my closet
piercing deep into sleep's dialysis,
my heart shuttered at beatings sake
as the demon took his analysis.
The hairs on my neck stood up,
entrapped of dark academia, dreaming,
He lifted my veil only to suck my soul,
in my last breaths, I wasn't screaming.

Girl Crying
As rivers meet taunting seas,
I hear wind whisper with ease.
Nature sweeps with a silvery broom
in this frigid snow-covered room,
Fragile leaves have shredded behind,
just as dreams never become mine.
A howling tempest stole my tune,
so I cry out to the nightly moon.
I swiftly swept away with the wind,
now a lost girl just playing pretend.
I hear wind whisper with ease.

in this frigid snow-covered room,
Fragile leaves have shredded behind,
just as dreams never become mine.
A howling tempest stole my tune,
so I cry out to the nightly moon.

Firefly
A soft beetle with
a little doom,
I bleed my light
under the moon,
the midnight hour
peaks through dark,
I'm roaming around
with a little spark.
Giving off light to all I see,
but this firefly,
who rescues me?
I don't see a light
other than my own,
but I keep flying here,
shining all alone.
The trees say hello
with swaying leaves,
their lullaby at dawn
puts me at ease.
darkness I've conquered
through another night.
But I pray tomorrow
another firefly is in sight.
a little doom,
I bleed my light
under the moon,
the midnight hour
peaks through dark,
I'm roaming around
with a little spark.
Giving off light to all I see,

No Rekindling Flame
I ate and drank his precious words
but was never fully satisfied.
choking on too big of bites,
I gasped for air as I cried.
I swallowed his fine wine
until it turned to sorrowed mash.
I wished on air as pain thrived
to relieve this taunting crash.
A discarded, old housewife,
I was fatefully meant to be.
I place my blame on no one else,
I wasn't good enough for thee.
So we split two worlds apart,
relearning life before we met.
I packed my clothes and this crystal vase
without a single regret.

Tragedy To Triumph
Those same boots of lead
creaked upon my barren soul,
I've built a Prairie with a clover,
twice my life has closed.
But through this long storm,
a rainbow rose up high,
my cocoon tightened,
I stretched my wings to the sky.
Bred amongst the mountains,
I may never understand
of this island soul to sea,
but Emily took my hand.
Looking back on old times,
I did my solemn best,
but softly sinks my trembling sun
in human nature's west.
Just as I am nobody,
she was nobody too, ...

Otherworldly
I don't need a house to be haunted,
these legions consume my mind.
For in all their midnight meetings,
I'm the one confined.
I walk this barren land,
an external ghost roaming free,
these walls don't speak of treason,
the only haunted here is me.
An assassin with a revolver
playing roulette at three a.m.,
they've got me in their sights.
I should startle if just pretend.
For myself, I am concealed.
Their weapons, firing synapses,
in attempt to hush these demons down,
my brain often relapses.
these legions consume my mind.
For in all their midnight meetings,
I'm the one confined.
I walk this barren land,

Forever Is Never Long Enough
Winter peaked her head in,
now it's lonesome and cold.
I had a head full of dreams,
forever was a word I was told.
But this new harsh season
came snowing in.
The only words I remember
to this story are "The End".
I'll try and keep myself warm
and wait for spring to come
if I survive this frigid weather
and keep my toes from going numb.
This jacket wrapped around me
is nothing compared to his warmth.
I miss the days of sunny weather,
now cold winds blow from the north.
But forever keeps ticking...
now it's lonesome and cold.
I had a head full of dreams,
forever was a word I was told.
But this new harsh season
came snowing in.
The only words I remember
to this story are "The End".
I'll try and keep myself warm
