POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Real life stuff. I express myself, my feelings, emotions, and experiences, all through my poems. Love them or hate them, they're my way out, and it's no one's place to judge.
Fight or flight.
I see your eyes light up when you look at him,
I see them sparkle and shine.
Your breathing gets heavier,
Your arms tense up,
Yet they seem to be loosing their grip on me.
Baby I know you want him.
I know we've had our time,
And that it's now over.
But you know he isn't good for you.
He's like poison.
Like an addiction.
Giving you bad habits you'll never be able to kick.
That's why I'm not giving up on you,
That's why I'm not letting you go, not without a fight.
I see them sparkle and shine.
Your breathing gets heavier,
Your arms tense up,
Yet they seem to be loosing their grip on me.
Baby I know you want him.
I know we've had our time,
And that it's now over.
But you know he isn't good for you.
He's like poison.

Priorities. And the lack thereof.
He wasn't at school today.
She checked by his house to make sure he was ok.
She enters the house,
Down the hall,
Fourth on the left.
She notices her hand shaking on the doorknob.
She takes a deep breathe and throws the door open.
The smoke fills her lungs,
Her eyes burn, but it's nothing compared to his eyes,
Bloodshot,
Only slits in his head.
The bong sits in his hands.
He's too out of it to even notice she's there.
The hardest part of this scene before her?
Knowing the drugs are more important to him that she is...

Living life around an axis.
There they are again,
Take the long way to class just to avoid them.
Its not worth hearing what's wrong with you today.
Everything you say or do,
Its affecting their lives somehow.
Apparently giving them the right to comment.
The right to shut you down.
Judge you on who you are.
When you confront them about it they simply laugh it off.
"It's just a joke", they say.
Well I'll tell you one thing.
Jokes don’t make you cut that deep.

Soul Mates..
My muscles are tense,
As I strike a match to light a cigarette.
The end momentarily bursts into flame,
Before fizzling out into a pretty red light.
The cigarette wobbles in my shaking fingers.
I breathe in the chemicals.
Feeling them roll deep into my lungs.
I hold the smoke there for a moment, closing my eyes,
Nothing matters here,
Not the cold words, or the people that use them.
Not even him.
Alone here, with my back against a brick wall,
It's just me and my cigarette,
Just me and my love...

Empty With You
Looking on with awe,
Counting your steps as you walk away.
If only you knew how much it kills me inside.
You let me talk to you,
But I can feel the reluctance in your voice.
If only you knew…
I see other people talking to you,
You smile at them, hanging off their every word.
On the inside I'm screaming, telling them to stop.
On the outside I cover it up,
Try not to think about it.
But it keeps eating away inside of me,
Like a vulture pecking the remains of something once alive.
I'm empty now,
I need you back, best friend.
Please….

And remember, "I'm fine".
You lay in bed and think about them. Wonder if they're thinking about you too.
You tell yourself you'll be ok. Tell yourself you'll make it through. Tell yourself you're fine. If you believe it so will they. You dont want them to worry. That's the last thing you want.
So you're over boys. They're such unforgiving merciless creatures. "To love is to destroy", seems true enough. And to be the one loved is to be the one destroyed. Yep...
You don't know what to do with your life and you dont know where you're going. So you make stupid decisions and do things that...

A Complicated Thing
It's a complicated thing, love.
Whenever I'm around you, it hurts because I'll never be with you.
But whenever I'm away from you, it hurts because I need you.
You're the one that lifts me up, spins me around.
You're the one that can stop the tears when no-one else can.
You're the reason I get up of a morning,
The reason for every breath I take,
The reason for every move I make.
Before I met you I was shy,
Co-independant perhaps.
You're the one that brought me to the surface.
You opened my eyes, made me believe.
But without you now, ...

Typical Teen
You don't know where you're going in life and you're not sure you want to go very far at all.
You do stupid things. Steal, drink, smoke, take drugs, hurt yourself.
Then life gives you the opportunity to fix everything.
It gives you an opportunity to do it for someone else, because you'd never want to do it for yourself.
But people tell you it's wrong.
That you can't do it, you can't fix your life.
You can't believe them though.
Not when you've seen it fix someone elses life.
You know they're just trying to help.
You know they mean well.
But...
