POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Snippets of me.
My Last
For the first time,
I want to capture the sight
of a snowflake
drifting down to rest on my shoulder.
I want to walk under canopies
of cherry blossoms,
with fallen pink petals.
I want to lie down
in a vast field of tulips,
listening to nature’s songs.
I want to gaze at the sky,
unveiling its wonders,
next to the turquoise lake.
I want to watch the world
from the highest peak,
as life goes on.
Yet again,
all I want is to sigh
my last breath.
I want to capture the sight
of a snowflake
drifting down to rest on my shoulder.
I want to walk under canopies
of cherry blossoms,
with fallen pink petals.
I want to lie down
in a vast field of tulips,
listening to nature’s songs.
I want to gaze at the sky,
unveiling its wonders,
next to the turquoise lake.
I want to watch the world
from the highest peak,
as life goes on.
Yet again,
all I want is to sigh
my last breath.

Drift Bottle
I’ve been holding onto
your fading beams,
like the setting sun,
for too long.
Perhaps it’s time for me
to let you go
in a drift bottle.
With the waves setting you free,
and your memory,
forever treasured with me.
your fading beams,
like the setting sun,
for too long.
Perhaps it’s time for me
to let you go
in a drift bottle.
With the waves setting you free,
and your memory,
forever treasured with me.

Ballerina in a Box
Tunes filled the room
Sailing through the air
In harmony with my every spin
My mind drifted with the clouds
Magenta glow shone upon my skin
As I hummed in ecstasy
Chasing the shadows away
Becoming one with music
Like a porcelain ballerina in a box
Sailing through the air
In harmony with my every spin
My mind drifted with the clouds
Magenta glow shone upon my skin
As I hummed in ecstasy
Chasing the shadows away
Becoming one with music
Like a porcelain ballerina in a box

Beautiful
Beautiful,” I whispered
to the reflection gazing back at me
in the mirror, and her eyes gleamed—
radiant, as tears flowed down,
touched by the pure sincerity she felt
from my words for the first time,
when I whispered, “beautiful.”

Shroud Me
This blinking corpse of mine
Shrouded in skin with a pulse
And sable trails of tears
Painting my pallid cheeks
This body I own
Has a mind of its own
One I can no longer control
Nor save from the hands of destruction
So I watch my life unfold
As if it’s not a part of me anymore
Choices were made out of weakness
When I collapsed on my bed of oblivion
Time didn’t stop when I was twelve
Yet the clock has been broken ever since
My ankles moored to yesterday
A scar that never seemed to heal ...

Game of Silence
Quiet morning breakfasts,
I swallow my tongue and bite down on debris,
each breath heavy with unspoken words.
We mastered this game of silence,
always winning, never daring to lose.
It's getting dull with the everyday quiet meals.

Holding My Breath
As sweet as chocolate, your words tasted
Like a silken drape coating my tongue in luster
And as swiftly as sand in water, my heart immersed
Sinking deep with the riveting flow, wrapped up in a flicker
When everything ceased, leaving only a lingering scent
My hands kept grasping at a waft of what you left
Counting down seconds, yearning for the next
Holding my breath until your warmth was felt
Like a silken drape coating my tongue in luster
And as swiftly as sand in water, my heart immersed
Sinking deep with the riveting flow, wrapped up in a flicker
When everything ceased, leaving only a lingering scent
My hands kept grasping at a waft of what you left
Counting down seconds, yearning for the next
Holding my breath until your warmth was felt

His Anger
He felt like a gust of wind
Stern and violent
The room trembled in alert
Whenever he stepped
He resembled a mountain
Stark, fearsome, and towering
With a distance too far to cross
And a height I failed to reach
When unleashed, his wrath
Reminded me of an erupted volcano
Searing all who drew near
With a fountain of fury
He yelled like a peal of thunder
With harsh rumbles of rage
The epitome of a grim storm
Bringing havoc in his wake

TAG, YOU'RE IT! _ with "Vision_of_insanity"
They played a fierce game of tag all of their lives
From as far back to childhood through to their later years in life
Tag you're it
Now, tag you're it!
The game was harmless, but both were eager to tag the other throughout their lives
Even when they were married & had families, the game went on
One of them fell ill a few years back
Even so, wheelchair bound and sick, he would tag his friend gleefully, like he did for over 70 years
His friend was saddened but thought he'd bounce back
He never did

Rosa Rugosa
They plucked the petals
of this Rosa Rugosa.
Lusting after her bloom,
to be torn and thrown.
Her prickles, unworthy
to be found and held.
They abandoned the dregs
of this wrinkled rose.

Long Since
It’s been three years
since I first laid eyes on your amber iris,
since I tasted your words’ sweetness,
healing the bitterness of my tears,
and since I felt my name on your lips.
Almost one year since the last time I did,
when you steered your ship away
from my already wrecked one
that tried to save yours from sinking.
A hundred and twenty-six days
since I caught a glimpse of you,
fleeting among the stars.
And a few seconds since I cried
a sea for you, for the thousandth time.
Now, I’m feeling deprived, ...
since I first laid eyes on your amber iris,
since I tasted your words’ sweetness,
healing the bitterness of my tears,
and since I felt my name on your lips.

Ocean of Sorrow
When the air falls silent,
and you rest your head
on my heart,
I’m afraid all you’ll hear
is a resonance with a cadence
of an ocean of sorrow,
echoing waves of my blues,
ebbing and flowing in woe
within my soul’s conch.
and you rest your head
on my heart,
I’m afraid all you’ll hear
is a resonance with a cadence
of an ocean of sorrow,
echoing waves of my blues,
ebbing and flowing in woe
within my soul’s conch.
