POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I am. What else it there to say? My likes, dislikes, loves and wishes, mean nothing if I do not acknowledge that I simply am. That I breathe and experience. There is no greater explanation.
To Hide Me
Fog walls are hiding me
From a sky that’s too open
And an earth that’s too closed
And hands that dig wounds
In the shadows of hopes
Distrust has inspired me
To hold you away
From the gravestones I know
You’ll find in my eyes
Beneath these tourniquets of happiness
I don’t believe you’s
Are protecting me from
I love you’s
I need you’s
I need you to need me’s
Lamp posts of wide-eyed declarations,
Scattered fall showers dancing
On the scarf of Mother Nature,
Is a lull of day time mishaps
Waiting to...

One More, Please
FALLING HAS never been the hardest part. It’s the seconds after, it’s the in between standing and laying exposed, without defense, trying to take in all that had been or is about to be damaged. There is this moment that exists there, where time doesn’t freeze, really, you just stop observing it. A half a second of the world dissolving into chaos. A thousand and one handshakes of arrivals and departures, and then it all collapses beneath the weight of the after-moment. Time doesn’t catch up, instead it blazes past you when solid greets the parts of you that was always supposed to be right side...

I’m Denying Any Hope
It is so close to a garden,
Trampled feet persuading attention
that you take to the bench
despite the roaring of warning.
You’ve made yourself comfortable
among the tallest of trees
attempting to catch glimpses
between each of the leaves.
But I’m not there
and I won’t stay
where metal and molded
binds me away.
I’ve got sand in my veins
and waves in my soul
and I’m begging you begging you
please let me go!
I’m afraid of these whispers
attached to the clouds
where wondering and waiting

I Can Learn To Wait
You are all the stars colliding,
Bursting open in my night sky
Hope – a million times brighter than everlasting
Dancing over my skin, into my skin
Wrapping me up in contrasting
Declarations.
I have locked your correspondences
In the stop watch of my heart
Where the ticking
Will help me keep track of the beat
You left behind
These worlds in my eyes are waiting
For the worlds existing in yours,
Dizzying orbits
Left to wonder city ‘scapes
Until the justice of that being
Complements my own
Then… maybe I can say ‘I...

Sighs Upon the Stars
These text book words
Sitting on the lines of your finger tips
Where they touch what is hidden
Where they touch what is marred
Sands recognized only by the beating beating beating
Of the waves
I am tired of sleeping
Am tired of opening eyes
To brittle atoms
Day and night, love and life
Catastrophes stepping together in tandem
I’ll wonder these knolls
In time with the atmosphere
Blanketed only by shattered dreams –
Cracked parcels of instigation
Never to be carried out
I am waiting for the ringing of your...

What Have You Asked Me
You’re not asking me to live
Just to keep breathing
You’re not asking me to feel
Just to keep being
You’re not asking me to laugh
Just to smile
You’re not promising forever
Just a short while
You’re not asking me to love
Just to keep sharing
You’re not asking me to wonder
Just to keep staring
You’re not asking me to grow
Just to keep moving
You’re not asking me to exceed
Just to keep proving
What, I’m not sure…
What, I don’t know…
And all these seeds that I’ve gathered
All these seeds that...

I Thought
I am lost in endless horizons
Where false dawn holds keys to my prison
Shadows tell quests of light bearers
And I hold the blackened wick of what once was
I thought your hands could tell my story
I thought your voice could swallow my fears.
Where are you?
Where have you gone?
I saw my heaven in your embrace
Now crushed by the hides of falling leaves
Spiraling into what I believed
Who are you?
There is an indent on my finger
Of a circle you placed
Weighted with lies I did not see.
There are rings on the bruise that...

Let Me
Here, let me lay your head
In the crook of my being
Protect your body
With all that I’m seeing
Let me shelter your faith
With whispered dreams,
Weave these fingers,
Close those seams
Let me stand tall
When you are brought low,
Love and confidence
You should reap as I sow
Let me cradle your sleep
With wind rushing by,
You’ll pay me in full.
You’ll be the blue in my sky
Let me string this light
The pendant your soul,
I’ll be your breaker
When the waves surge and roll
Let me hold you

Stumbling Definitions
He is tearing seams of childhood
duct taped together with adult.
He is unraveling beneath the adhesive
Bruised memories corroding last attempts at innocence,
justified behaviors plaguing blue skies.
You are bound agony
aching submission of hands held out empty.
These restraints have embedded
shifting tectonic ideals
where faith allowed one to comfort another.
You are caged screaming
as you watch him falter
a world’s weight mounted on thirteen year old shoulders
His hand reaching for aid ...

Contemporary Civility
Rain from a broken mantle
Feeds the fire,
Tickling realizations
painting space between fingertips,
All amounting to justice and reward
Like the clouds have not wept
And the earth has not shaken –
There is no need to fear.
Death is not in individuals,
It claims races
Species,
Honorable intentions
Preserving for a greater cause.
There is warmth in a core that is struggling.
Life fading
Where eyes wide open –
Do not see.
The eye has faded in stitches
Surrounded by collected weights –
Where the beat...

Faulted You’s
Your gaze is 3/4ths to the horizon and missing the point.
You are eyes –
pierced, veiled things that find limit to the sky
and an unfathomable (faulted) truth in the crumbling earth beneath your feet.
You are tides of recognized ignorance
existing in reality that is full of half-truths.
This life is a broken bone that didn’t set right,
suspended faith for comfort and heartache lusts,
a thousand pieces of shale layered precariously
edge to edge,
you are skipping over it without heed to danger.

Music Box Waves
The world has set about my shoulders
Kneeled between waves of white
Where the sky has crowned the horizon in pink blushes
Acknowledging the dying of the light
There’s one lone jewel in this topped sky
That sits encrusted up on high
Observing below, the beaten land
To this plot of trials in which I stand
I have stitched the sea together
With grains of sand between my toes
A music box I open wide
To store away all my woes
They’ll sing about the fireside
Whisper secrets with the tide
I’ll lay them out between the rocks...
