POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I am. What else it there to say? My likes, dislikes, loves and wishes, mean nothing if I do not acknowledge that I simply am. That I breathe and experience. There is no greater explanation.
What about Tonight?
There's a ring around the moon tonight
But no one stops to pause
To look up at the beautiful sight
Or wonder about its cause
There's a gunshot in the streets tonight
But no one questions why
Or stops to aid the boy's plight
Before he begins to die
There's a fracture in this country tonight
But no one ponders its effect
Or attempts to stop this spreading blight
As is grows from our neglect
There's a war in the world tonight
But no one rises to defend
The rules that governed our life's light
Because we're...

Why
I've always wanted to ask you 'why'
Lord, knows how many times I tried,
But then maybe it's always been my pride
That never let me ask you 'why'
So here it is, I'll finally ask
Why – why was I never good enough?
Why did you tell me you love me,
Then watched me bask in your bluff?
Why did you come back,
Making promises you never intended to keep?
And why is that I have come to believe,
That so many enjoy, thinking they've made me weep?
Do you all think I'm so strong,
That I can stand beneath all the lies,
That with every...

Battle
The clashing persisted
All through the night
A monstrous sound
A horrifying fight
It was a battle of right
And a battle of wrong
A battle of the weak
And a battle of the strong
It was a fight within
That echoed out
It encompassed the world
With a violent shout
Yet so few turned their ear
To that tortured voice
And so little knew the pain
That came with his choice
But as the fire consumed
And he battled on
All would be blinded
Once the darkness was gone
For he, like gold
Was being...

Changed Disguise
This was a bench for weeping,
A bench that held sorrow and pain;
Past memories were with her,
A shadow to bind and contain.
Oft she came in the mornings,
Hoping to find some kind of joy,
But the slow passing of seasons
Reminded her what change can destroy.
The shower of bright yellows and oranges,
Only furthered her gloom,
As she remembered a time past,
When only love was consumed.
How many years had passed by,
Since he had changed his mind,
Since autumn had been uplifting,
Since fate had set a new design?
She...

Anymore
I don't think I can do it anymore -
Pretend that I'm not broken.
Smile and laugh,
As though I can give trust like a token.
I don't think I can do it anymore -
Hide away the tears,
Act as though I'm not drowning,
Beneath insecurities and fears.
I don't think I can do it anymore -
Believe what they say,
Jump into love,
Like a warrior into the fray.
I don't think I can do it anymore -
Always standing strong,
Being the tough girl,
That knows deep down she doesn't belong.

What do you Seek?
Go ahead, go hang with your friends,
Keep on as you are, keep playing pretend,
That I'll be here when you get back,
Your a fool, cause I'll leave no tracks.
I'm tired of being treated like I'm expendable,
And yet you expect me to be dependable.
Well this may come as a shock to you,
But I'm tired, I'm done, I'm through,
My walls are back up, solid and strong,
And you made me realize behind them is where I belong.
When you find my absence, you have only yourself to blame,
'Cause I've grown tired of playing your game.
You...

Memorial Tapestries
I never wanted kids,” Says the father of two,
And I sink to my knees knowing its true.
“It was your fault, you guys drove him to me,”
Says the woman who tortured my family.
“Forgiveness for past transgressions?” Asks my love that left,
Drowning me in silence with a heart bereft.
These are the voices that haunt my dreams,
The dreams that wake me with a throat full of screams.
Only their not just dreams, their memories,
Hanging heavy, dark gray tapestries,
Over my window, blocking the sun,
Leaving me no light by which to run.
So I'm...

Haunted
Go away! Go away!
Why won't you leave?
Another night to the break of day,
Within my dreams you weave.
My sleep is haunted
And oh, so wrong,
My vulnerable self taunted,
Why can't you see I'm not strong?
These nightmares won't let me be
And every night, I awake to weep.
I pray one day to finally be free,
So that I may drift into a dream-less sleep.
Why won't you leave?
Another night to the break of day,
Within my dreams you weave.
My sleep is haunted
And oh, so wrong,

Why can't you see I'm not strong?

And every night, I awake to weep.

So that I may drift into a dream-less sleep.

In a World where Shadows chase the Light
The world had turned upside down,
The once chipper begin to frown,
All that once made sense has taken flight
In a world where shadows chase the light.
The sky consumes the ground,
Light breaks to the shrieking sound;
Day raises hand and murders night,
In a world where shadows chase the light.
The sea begins to heavily bleed,
As the clouds come down and use it to feed;
Stars laugh from their safe height,
In a world where shadows chase the light.
Mothers turn, kill their young,
Not one eye can hold it's tongue;
The moon...

The Mirroring Journals
One Journal.
One knowledge.
Two lives.
Two worlds.
Two halves of a whole.
There is a knowledge that draws the human heart. A knowledge once known and now forgotten. But a writer from a time just as forgotten is seeking to enlighten the world through a journal of time.
Now the journal is in your hands.
Will you solve it's puzzle?
Or leave it searching?

Redemptive
It hit my chest,
Like the beat of a drum,
The water so cold,
It stole the breath from my lungs.
It crashed over my head,
And stole the sight of the sky,
It dragged me beneath,
And swallowed my cry.
The cold was piercing,
It's grip offered little relief,
So I closed my eyes,
And gave into my grief.
There was no saving me,
From this river of pain,
His silence said it all,
I was to blame.
So I sank beneath the surface,
Away from the air,
No longer able to float,
Or to trust anyone...

Fireknight
There once reigned a warrior,
A Princess of flame
Who danced in the halls
of Shadow's domain
She worked every hour
She shown through the day
And when night fell upon them
She guided their way.
The fire and shadow
Worked well together
To protect all their people
And make the world better
But the dark knight was fickle
And wanted the power
So drove off the Princess
From her open-sky tower
Now she is fleeing
But shadow always finds
For unlike the darkness
Light always shines
