POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Warrior-poet on a quest for authenticity. What you see is what you get (except for what remains unseen - some of that percolates to the surface through my poetry.)
Cynical Sadist
Heard it all before
“I’d do anything for you”
Show me the scars
“I’d do anything for you”
Show me the scars

Espina Violeta
Growing alone in the dark, tangled jungle
Torn long ago from your beloved desert
Pretty blossoms with nectar sweet, so alluring
Hiding a thorn, the sad color of deep madness
Punishing lover’s deceit, issuing unfaithful warnings
A poisonous vengeance for a wrathful God’s betrayal
For the Great Queen, a black, numb, silent, awaken sleep
Her Bold Chevalier entombed sword less in walls of stone
Each delivered eternally to their own central private circle
For foolishly confusing willing submission with weakness
Finally, in the...

Who is Le Colonel
Behold,
A tangled knot of paradoxes
Proper rogue, confident doubter,
Boisterous introvert, Hopeful pessimist,
Dreaming cynic, gentle sadist
Untie me!

Sisyphean Art
Only so much retouch with a fine brush
Not too much forgiveness in sculpting
But writers can write and rewrite forever
Like the tragic Greek king and his pet rock
Starting each draft we so hope that it stays
But our inner editor again jars the boulder
While it may not be the exact same stone
The trip down and up sure feels familiar
Not too much forgiveness in sculpting
But writers can write and rewrite forever
Like the tragic Greek king and his pet rock
Starting each draft we so hope that it stays
But our inner editor again jars the boulder
While it may not be the exact same stone

Bittersweet Lilith
Your sad, sad saxophone lets me know you were here,
Funny how you only go by Lily when the clouds disappear,
Your touch can burn like fire, soothe like mink,
But regardless of which, I can’t seem to think,
Loving you has vaulted me skyward and plunged me deep,
But I can’t seem to decide which to discard, which to keep,
Tickle me with French whispers in my ear,
And chase away all my doubt, all of my fear,
Now don’t even laugh, or dare think me silly,
Help me say “adieu à Lilith et bonjour à Lily”
Funny how you only go by Lily when the clouds disappear,
Your touch can burn like fire, soothe like mink,
But regardless of which, I can’t seem to think,
Loving you has vaulted me skyward and plunged me deep,
But I can’t seem to decide which to discard, which to keep,

And chase away all my doubt, all of my fear,
Now don’t even laugh, or dare think me silly,
Help me say “adieu à Lilith et bonjour à Lily”

Tarot Doom
The Knight of Swords fights alone
A wall of dark blades surrounds him
Betrayal, treachery, and wicked deceit
It is the tragic destiny he is always dealt
Though he fights on ever so nobly
He knows inside the cause is lost
Sadly, the only cut he did not see coming
The Empress’s dagger beneath the sheets
In the end, he is buried under the cards
Three, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten of Swords
A wall of dark blades surrounds him
Betrayal, treachery, and wicked deceit
It is the tragic destiny he is always dealt
Though he fights on ever so nobly
He knows inside the cause is lost
Sadly, the only cut he did not see coming
The Empress’s dagger beneath the sheets
In the end, he is buried under the cards
Three, Seven, Eight, Nine, Ten of Swords

L’Éternel Dilemme
Fighting to the death with no apology
Tis a struggle as old as the astrology
Beneath the sand lethality that stings
High above beat the noblest of wings
The scorpion is secret, jealous, and spite
The proud eagle is grace, honor, and light
For a Scorpio is both of these creatures
His nature contains all of their features
The daily challenge, which will he choose
And with that choice, what will he lose
So continuing down through the ages
An eternal dilemma forever rages
Tis a struggle as old as the astrology
Beneath the sand lethality that stings
High above beat the noblest of wings
The scorpion is secret, jealous, and spite
The proud eagle is grace, honor, and light
For a Scorpio is both of these creatures
His nature contains all of their features
The daily challenge, which will he choose
And with that choice, what will he lose
So continuing down through the ages
An eternal dilemma forever rages
