Poet Introduction
Warrior-poet on a quest for authenticity. What you see is what you get (except for what remains unseen - some of that percolates to the surface through my poetry.)

Provenance
The brook is not
the Jordan or the Rubicon
It is not the Red Sea
awaiting its Moses
No
She is
unpretentious
an ingénue
untouched
inviting me
to sit, abide
and share
secrets
almost
forgotten
Her voice
is whispery plush
like vibrant
moss - the soothing
sound of green
Drowning out
the world
its clash and clatter
till I am
no longer
anyone else

discarded figurine
tears trickle
down pallid
skin as dusk
disrobes me
in pygmalion's
wake
unadorned
as luna without sol -
doomed
like shadow denied
light
i am
darkness
must i
relump
becoming
milky ivory -
galatea
entombed
as before
her fickle
sculpting
or
dare i
smash the porcelain
forever redeem
this
chipped trinket
scorned

You unfurl
beneath me
uncreased
my lilywhite
seductress
for you know
I cannot resist
Forever belying
like a snowy
meadow
blanketing
buds
adrift
in reveries
In wicked times
blanched ambrosia
a succulent
pome -
just out of reach
Perhaps
this why
I always return
to spill my
ink
on your
chaste skin
as you lie
bare and beguiling
listening
longing
for my footsteps
like wet cement
beneath me
uncreased
my lilywhite
seductress
for you know
I cannot resist
Forever belying

Tender Dagger
Now still, beneath a silvery blue light
I spy you lovely, my painted desire
Eclipse for me the heavens far and bright
So that I may see what lengths you inspire
Do you love me the same, did I dare ask.
Only then to watch your tryst undo the spell
Thus witnessing the cruelest game unmask
As at last your betrayal now befell
Fool that I am and will always so be
To bare all in the name of fickle love
I slump amazed, besot in agony
by this hand callous in its soft black glove
So skillfully thrust, so perfectly played ...

Deepest Fear
It is with neither bravado nor flippancy
that I say to you
I am unafraid of mortality
having held Death in a lover’s embrace
only to discard her dissatisfied to the floor
when she was mine for the taking
No, it is Life, her fairer sister that chills me
to my mortal core –
not in our daily chase
but rather in the nagging, tragic
measure
of misspent years
Endless climbing, diurnal striving
has left me consumed yet unsated
by the promised feast of success
wolfed to its bones
Now I stir and rouse to this ...
that I say to you
I am unafraid of mortality
having held Death in a lover’s embrace
only to discard her dissatisfied to the floor
when she was mine for the taking
No, it is Life, her fairer sister that chills me

In the Gloaming
Soft rose light imbues your face
with a flushed glow
melting away harsh time
And pained distance
Nestled by my side
your hands clasp mine
spreading a swelling
wave of warmth
eclipsing the ebbing sun
Leaning in I gaze
silent
in pure illumination
to see you truly
naked and unadorned
eternal beauty awash in pink
Then in your visage
I recognize
the look of love
in all its facets
friend, companion
and lover
revealed by this rosy hue
Stranded without words
blinded by eyes bedewed...
with a flushed glow
melting away harsh time
And pained distance
Nestled by my side
your hands clasp mine
spreading a swelling
wave of warmth
eclipsing the ebbing sun
Leaning in I gaze

Cracked Book
How natural she opens
cradled between wanting hands
parted like a bride
with nubile secrets
She needs nothing
save warm sunlight
or flickering taper
for her ambience
and me still
nestled on a couch
beneath green canopies
or beside a droning sea
dangling by her words
Each page does curl
yield to my advances
unfurling so slinky
towards literal climax
And if only
for this brief respite
am I truly free
from the leaden
staleness of it all
cradled between wanting hands
parted like a bride
with nubile secrets
She needs nothing
save warm sunlight
or flickering taper
for her ambience
and me still
nestled on a couch
beneath green canopies
or beside a droning sea
dangling by her words
Each page does curl
yield to my advances
unfurling so slinky
towards literal climax
And if only
for this brief respite
am I truly free
from the leaden
staleness of it all

Elegy for Anne
Although we are
deux femmes suprêmes
from random decades
I know that you
and I are alike
my sororal twin
(Even though,
as you know
I, like Hamlet
lack the courage
to be a coward)
Nonetheless
I too
have two moons
which eclipse me
with such a sweet, sweet
lunacy
Each bipole tugs
tugs with its
own grave gravitation
towards either
cirrus heights or
unsounded depths –
for you know too well
one cannot savor either
without its other
But I do have to ask
since...
