The Times We Live In
When you do your job too well
You get gunned down
When you don't do your job
You get promoted
Paedophiles hide in plain sight
Some wearing robes quoting scriptures in sermons
Only to disrobe undressing the innocent lambs praying over their prey
With rants about receiving miracles
Overcome by the spirit sprinkling their holy waters
On the obedient flock to receive awaited blessings
Lying spread anticipating the second coming
Trusting blindly those who themselves wallow in nightfall
With no hope of ever seeing daylight

Now all that is left for me is finding her
Where does the search begin
In a world with billions of people
When this person lives in another continent
There is no way of knowing that the other person even exists
The idea of someone like you has never even entered any daily thoughts
Not even in the most evident dreams
All too painful to believe as being possible
Unable to trust in the plans of providence
Wasting time and energy in the safety of certainty
Comfortably cradled in the stillness of stability
Wearing the pretence and perfume of normality with dignity
Yet in falling on a...

Living In A World of Vicious Manimals
A combination of a man-like creature and an animal
Without any modicum of conscience and compassion
Massacring households putting down people to slaughter
Dutifully nonchalantly carrying out this extermination
Executing masses in a war with no enemy except the one seen by the provocateur
Truth baked, branded & bonded into sullied lies
Life loses its state of taste
As these bloodied waters flow with the seraphic souls afloat
In the created distance disappear concealed to remain undiscovered
Man receding inwardly
A stranger to himself ...

Whether steeped in cruelty
Solace taking on kind fondness
The decision to pass or stop for a stranger on the side of a road at night
This single innocent act may lead to malicious motives
Dangerous outcome existing from both sides of the driver & passenger
Leaving both lives tainted
Stained in perpetual damage passing on with each encounter
The decision to approach and talk to someone
With possible favourable new alliances and even deeper relationships
A person physically abusing the one they supposedly love instilling fear in them ...

Time Well Spent
Nothing better than having some quality time
Sobering
With the one you love
There's too much pain in this world
Doing the things lovers do in special ways
But going on with it
And in spite of it
Slowly building that resilience
Dragging on in day to day existence
Feeling the passage of time
Unable to do more with less each day
Clarity in an unnecessary chase
Accepting the thrill of now
Returning to the next having had enough rest

Willing To Speak of The Dead
Taking those steps into the valley of the shadow of death
Approaching the inevitable and unavoidable final appointed deadline
With lives slipping before your very eyes
Putting those many souls to rest
Watching families in their inconsolable grief
Listening to stories being told about those who have moved on from here
Flags being flown at half mast in remembrance
Their presence touching the living in transcending ways beyond words spoken
Songs reminisce in memory of service
Wreaths of flowers laid at all the places of their travels
Praises...

Resistance's Resolve
With love sadness beckons
Weakness taking the place of meekness
Where the truth may lie
Mired in complications
Torturous times when love hurts
Just looking at this blurred reflection
This seems to be one of those instances where forgiveness doesn't seem to be enough
Being content as important as it is may not always be easy
Yet tough choices have to be made to avoid repetition of past mistakes
Weakness taking the place of meekness
Where the truth may lie

Under Siege
Under siege at home
Under siege at work
Under siege at school
Endless violent protests
Vigilante murders
Like forcing a person to drink petrol
Then being given a cigarette to smoke
Leading to the explosion and implosion of internal organs
In all this lawlessness
Where is the leadership
How long can people carry on like this
We can’t let it just go on
We do need to wake up before it’s too late
Under siege at work
Under siege at school

It seems too unbelievable at first
As if playing out a scene in a movie
Somewhere in a country far away
Remote from any homeland
Unfortunately
The truth is far worse than fantasy
As misfortune might have it
The danger lurks too close
To be ignored
And pretend
As if
It’s existence is of insignificance
As with countless occurrences
In our God forsaken continent
Specifically in the southern region
Time seems to be of no consequence
With no need to want to intervene
In places where timidity is a luxury ...

In That Intimate Area
Women really do look their best
Even when emotionally they are at their worst
Feeling the weight of the world on their shoulders
But it's just so difficult to believe any positive affirmation
Especially when it's coming from men
There's always suspicion as to their not so honourable motives
It becomes easier to honour the invitation with hesitant doubts
Wandering to the point of contaminating every inch
Storing energising and uplifting a spirit of self confidence
Easily and conveniently dismantled by worthless judgemental ego

After You Are Gone
The truth is
A relationship may end
But the love never dies
Distance does make the heart grow fonder
All those memories come overflowing
Overpowering with unbearable unexpected emotions
Unwanted feelings that leave vulnerable exposure
Floating away swaying to the call of unknown forces
Delving into areas of distrust
Knowingly aware of this necessary escape
Before it all ends in tears
