Mama May I
Mama May I May I May I
Once again see that loving look in your eye
or perform for you a scene that would make you cry
Get pricked while getting you rose from your garden
and when you catch me cussing beg your pardon
Bring you a plate of Soul Food with string beans for you to eat
or a glass of water before you sleep
Watch your back while you are on the stairs
or one last time with you say our special Friday night prayers
Like your sisters of the Pink and Green
announce my presence with pride when I am on the scene
...

What Is Reality?
When I look in the mirror am I the person that I see
or am I my reflection looking back at me
Is he trying to break through to a new reality
in hopes to truly be free
In order to make his new start
will he have to re-read Jean Paul Sartre
Or maybe that other fellow
Luigi Pirandello
Will he emerge himself in New Age Mysticism
in order to traverse his time/space schism
Like a modern day Odysseus, once he is finally home
will he be able to reclaim his once lost throne
or am I my reflection looking back at me
Is he trying to break through to a new reality
in hopes to truly be free
In order to make his new start

A New Dawn In America
We arose to a sky with a familiar peach red and yellow gold hue
our sleepy eyes longed of this view
For we have suffered almost 4 years under a Pres. that has no clue
and at being an International disgrace he is not through
I pray under Biden/ Harris we will begin anew
and bring dignity back to the land of Red, White and Blue
Although, we have the growing pains from wishes differed
whispers of hope todayI heard
And repeated chants of our most paramount recurring theme
which is as a nation our collective ability to dream
our sleepy eyes longed of this view
For we have suffered almost 4 years under a Pres. that has no clue
and at being an International disgrace he is not through

She is the blooming Lotus flower of our fair state
and for me that fact is not up for debate
A woman with a winning million-dollar smile
who wears pearls as an homage to classic female style

Under Trump hate is bringing our country down
after climbing Obama's hope mountain, we have been forced to turn around
Spirit in the sky is there still enough love
it the hearts of millions that we may rise above
These past 3 yrs. of this Trump tragedy and all of its ills
to once again see your reflection on the snow-covered hills
oh yes, the landslide will bring him down

are abducting US citizens regardless of the stigma that carries

This is equivalent of burning the US Constitution

The Year of The Rat
All around the world I see signs that say Black Lives Matter
while the list of Black people killed by the cops grows fatter
There are growing stories about Black men being found hung
like in the song "Strange Fruit" that Lady Day sung
I daydreamed I saw the Angel of Death point to a door and say: "Your kind must go"
behind it an ocean of Covid-19 infected blood did flow
I try to search my soul for an explanation
for this murderous exaltation
But, as the say in Poker I choose to "stand pat"
for I know-This is The Year of The Rat
while the list of Black people killed by the cops grows fatter

What began as a simple peaceful protest
has deteriorated into civil unrest
Instead of honoring the memory of George Floyd with respect
people have turned our cities into a nightmare of a train wreck
Police sirens wale day and night as if they are singing a dirge
while people on their own neighborhoods are being a scourge
We are now suffering through a new calamity
this is what happens when human beings lose sight of their humanity
By robbing one another
you are only stealing your own Brother
