POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write poetry as a hobby and an emotional release. But I do really love it and hope to do something with my writing one day.
I am Her Child
I am only able to watch awed by her presence,
Her strength I cannot match,
Her stubbornness of a bull with its head down,
Banging down all who oppose her and only looking back,
When she's reached her goal.
Leaving a mess in her wake.
She gave me the world in my hands, the stars in my mind,
The wind at my back pushing me forward and on.
She offered me a piece of her own strength,
So that I may learn to stand.
She gave me the heart to love and a mind with which to think.
From her I learned honesty,
And all its brutal forms.
I am...

Her stubbornness of a bull with its head down,
Banging down all who oppose her and only looking back,
When she's reached her goal.
Leaving a mess in her wake.

Peter Pan
Who wants to grow up?
There is only pain.
The world fades to gray,
Hope dashed away.
Life becomes an enemy,
Your battles never won.
or lost.
Why must my body ache?
Because in my soul
It churns, not with age,
But emotion.
Oh Neverland!
How I cry for the timeless king.
Where joy is easily gained,
And sorrow forgotten.
Even should I die,
I would never misguide myself,
That heaven wouldn't be real.
Or fake.
Because, a child's trust
Is absolute.
Take me away.
A world so far away.
There is only pain.
The world fades to gray,
Hope dashed away.
Life becomes an enemy,
Your battles never won.
or lost.
Why must my body ache?
Because in my soul
It churns, not with age,

This Storm
Why waste my breath on useless plea's,
And salted water down my cheeks.
No mercy will befall on me.
No hand to sooth my aching head.
Or songs to calm my running heart.
There is no calm in the storm,
Only the rising winds,
Raging ever more.
Cutting me down,
Pushing me farther.
The more I stand,
The harder the winds push.
No, the chaos will not kill me.
It'll drive myself
To find my only light.
Be it a knife or gun.
The winds raged to much.
Here I am so small and lonely,
Facing what can't be...

Mother, When I Return to You
Mother hold me in warm embrace,
Gently cradle my delicate skin,
Caressed by your loving winds.
Touch my lips with petals,
Soft flowers of maternity love.
Never let me stray the path,
You so gracelessly set before me.
Let me not destroy your body,
You have lovingly provided me.
Should I dampen your skies,
And turn them gray.
Should I steal from your blues,
Your greens, your rainbows of life,
May you set me down,
As only a Mother can.
Mother, no love knows mine to you.
No King above, below, or near,
Can inspire...

Canvas
A world is painted on a canvas.
Filled with turmoil.
Drowning with sorrow,
Rocked in the contrast
Of black and white turned gray.
Swirled in confusion.
Ripped at with harsh hands.
Admired by the grubby.
It screams of the uncertainty
at the edge of a cliff
where the only option is Down.
Because Up is a ladder,
That I just don't possess
Within my ripping head.
The world is insanity.
Death. Destruction.
Life. Forgiveness.
All muddled together,
Tangible, unbreakable.
Unable to...

West Texas
My favorite part of the day
Is when the sounds of city fade,
Deep in the country of Texas.
When the oven heat
That turned the ground brittle,
Like toast,
Has cooled just enough to breath.
I like to take off my shoes
And run my toes in the dirt -
Dry, brittle, little crumbs of dirt.
For underneath, having awaited all day,
Is the cool, refreshing ice,
Of soft, sugar like sand.
A wind howls by in a painful moan,
Even he cannot escape the heat.
He bring with him,
A dry, dusty taste.
That laughs upon my tongue....

Dreams
A tent flaps and waves,
Covering a skeleton of games.
Yellows and reds once bright,
Forgotten, frayed, losing light.
A creak of pain
Screams the old rides.
To long left to rust,
A plague of brown-
To spread is to die.
A sound echos through the maze,
Of lonely, twisted hopes.
The winds sound eerily of laughter,
As if the park can dream.
In dreams, become reality.
Reality, a forgotten nightmare.
Covering a skeleton of games.
Yellows and reds once bright,
Forgotten, frayed, losing light.

Remember
When did the first thought,
Destroy my fragile happiness?
I wasn't very tall yet,
Nor was I very wise.
Yet in the night,
Torn from my lips a scream,
Of desperate truth,
And a worse reality.
I did not act,
I only begged.
He pushes on my body,
Time as aged my head.
Taller I have grown,
But none the wiser I am.
Harder is the rock,
Before my morbid heart,
That blocks the hope,
That tiny light,
From pulsing into me.
Closer is the cliff,
An abyss within my familiar hands.
The unfamiliar act,...

The Joy in New Life
I can't face them for long,
Even though I yearn for one.
A little person of my very own.
If I gaze into the eyes of wonder,
I will find my dreams before me.
In my hands a choice,
To grow up to soon
Or to join but briefly
In the mind of a child.
I cannot interact with them,
For shame, I find my childish joy
A tad embarrassing with the world on watch.
A tad alarming how quickly I digress
Into a world unlike mine.
However, they are all around me.
Like a field of flowers,
Each little petal below me
But brighter,...
Even though I yearn for one.
A little person of my very own.
If I gaze into the eyes of wonder,

the Leviathan
If ever my sights
Lay upon the mighty form
Of the dragon from the sea,
I will cower and hold my heart,
Close to me as can be.
And silence all sin from me.
Least he smell my mortality.
I beg of you to follow!
And cower along with me.
For when his eyes lay their sights,
Upon the souls at sea -
So tiny before his length,
Longer than his inhabited seas-
His eyes of emerald sun
Will laugh and turn in glee.
His mouth will open,
No teeth to see.
To far, to wide-
His snout to the sky,
Jaw to deep.
Only the...

If I take This Step
On the way to blank,
Or maybe a pasture green.
All the same,
I'll miss your face
Even though I go so peacefully.
Have I told you I love you?
The moment before this wreck.
Have I amended all the wrong?
Time won't give me the chance,
My clock a pair of lights.
Why is it that I can't breath?
My hands a tingle of red,
The world is dark.
So I fight, all the more,
To see you, my light.
A single step,
A single pass,
A second chance,
A moment at last.
To only share my love,
To only share my time,...
Or maybe a pasture green.
All the same,
I'll miss your face
Even though I go so peacefully.

Our Future, Our Present
To whomever this may concern,
Can you guess how smart we are?
Do you know what our rank is?
Our GPA?
Does this great nation care,
For the well being of a human
Or the torment of our minds.
Through the halls of long silence
And breaking bells,
The sounds of marching shoes,
A plastered smiled to blend
Safely into the walls.
Silent towers built of college posters,
School events,
Sometimes the occasional outburst,
Of the average rebellious teen.
We are the top, the bright,
The good, the example,
The ever...
