And I Knew
I was at the mall during my thang checking out some shoes. I tried on a pair of Black Red bottoms sling-backs with three-inch heels very cute. I was admiring the shoe and how my legs look in mirror when I heard some rowdiness in front of the store.
I looked up in time to and saw him, a typical Ghetto prince with his Ghetto princess and their court as they entered the store.
And I knew….
The Ghetto prince was arrayed in all his glory wearing brown Nike booths low rider blue jeans with black boxers a black hoodie and RUN DMC tee shirt underneath. His black Steelers baseball cap...

In My Eyes
My old lover once said to me while we were making love that he loves to look into my eyes. I wondered what he saw there while he caressed my heart touched my face.
In my eyes could he see my heart’s loneness, it sadness, its pain or its shame? Could he see how I kept my heart hidden from this world so full of hurt and pain?
In my eyes could he see my soul’s desire to reach out for love in another’s heart, in any way a can, no matter the shame?
When my lover laid me down and spread my legs, his weight heavy his breath hot, I wonder if my eyes showed the anticipation, the burn...

A Break in Tempo ( run your tap a little for the Drip sound)
Drip, Drip, Drip
What is that I hear, that rhythm sound
Drip, Drip, Drip
Do you hear it, that pitter, patter sound
Drip, Drip, Drip
It’s like a beacon from a Lighthouse.
Drip, Drip, Drip
Flashing a warning of danger of some kind
Drip, Drip, Drip
Its getting louder, can you hear it?
Drip, Drip, Drip
Wonder what that is?
Drip, Drip, Drip
Can you make it stop?
Drip, Drip, Drip
It’s frightening me
Drip, Drip, Drip
I’m closing my eyes
Drip, Drip, Drip
I can’t stand that sound
Drip, Drip, Drip ...

I Accept the Whole of Me
I accept the Whole of Me
I accept the beauty of me
my curly hair , dark eyes and wide nose
my thick lips, high cheekbones and dark skin
my thick thighs, narrow waist, small breast and big feet
My mouth, quick with retort slow to repent
My love of soul food, sports, nature and men not all in that order
My amazing mood swings in all of their glory.
I have bad habits and some that are good, did I mention men?
I accept the beauty of me as well I should.

My reflection in the mirror staring, smiling, marveling at the whole...

Chilling in the Vortex
This came to me while listening to one of my drunk friends talk about approaching a woman at the end of the bar.
I sat at the bar sipping on my drink, just chilling at the club on another lonely Friday night. When across the bar I saw HER light. A celestial being with an aurora so bright, I nearly lost my sight. She smiled a dazzling smile and my whole world changed. I looked into sultry brown eyes, so mysterious, so new. What I saw in HER made all my dreams come true. I saw a world full of love, a place to find peace, where a brother could rest from the game. Our eyes met, held....

Preserves Memories
Memories are like jars of preserves.
You prepare the fruit, cook them down and let them cool.
Then you prepare the jars, washing them carefully and sit them aside.
You prepare the labels and place them on the jars.
Then you add the cooled mixture to the appropriate jars.
Sealing them tightly, so no air will seep inside to spoil their goodness.
You store these jars inside a dark cool place, often forgetting that they’re there,
until a hungry child comes to sit at your table eager to open a jar of your tastiness.
Sometimes a jar might have developed a...

The Spirit Of Our Words
I was out shopping today, during my thing, minding my own business when I turn a corner and came upon this woman and a clerk. The woman was not old, perhaps about thirty, dressed in a dress that came to her ankles and a blouse that cover her arms and neckline. She looked the part of a good church going sister with a bible in toe. She was about the same size as the young athletic man, who looked to be about twenty-two in his store uniform. She was talking to the young man about, what I guess, the price of a piece of equipment that the store ran in the Sunday paper. Although I couldn’t hear...

I DON’T HAVE FAITH
I don’t have faith in his face………
His dark skin rich like good chocolate and innocent brown eyes
void to the worse of this world. The roundness of
his handsome features with that wink of a dimple in his left cheek
that comes to life when he smiles at me.
I don’t have faith in his words………
His thick luxuriant voice speaks words that send shivers down my spine.
Words of love and respect, understanding and reasons but they’re full of
undertones that I can’t decipher.
I don’t have faith in his smell………
Spicy and sweet with a hint of musk that awaken...

Love in a Box
Love is in a box when it’s unyielding to the Spirit of Love.
You put LOVE in a box when
you love only those that look like you
….. that talk like you
…... that dress like you ( ink/ piercing)
……..with your skin color
.....who believe just what you believe
……..who worship GOD the way you do.
Like GOD (The Alpha and Omega/the Being and the END) is narrowed minded like you. Please!
….. those in your inner circle
……. those who can offer/give you something
……. the Book rather than the man that book Loves
……. your rules more than...

Love is Reciprocal
LOVE IS RECIPROCAL
Love is like rain drops on a still pond. When a single droplet hits the surface of the stagnate pond it sends a ripple affect outward. As more droplets break the surface even more ripples occur. Those ripples then began to reach out to touch other ripples making even more ripples until the once stagnate pond is active with vibrating ripples.
Just like those ripples in the pond, Love is reciprocal.
The more you put out the more you will receive in return.
So why not drop some Love into someone’s life today and see what happens.

Fifty-One Percent
Recently I broke it off with my lover of a few years and foolishly told my friends.
They immediately got on me.
“What girl, are you crazy?” One said.
“That brother was fine, have you lost your mind?” Another said.
“Shit girl what did he do?” The third asks.
“Fucker was a cheater,” the fourth said.
I simply smiled at them and said. “No, he wasn’t cheating and I haven’t lost my mind.”
“Shit, if you don’t want him, I’ll take him. Fine as the brother was, you must have lost it.” The second friend said. She is not a true friend.
I knew she had wanted my man from...
