POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I like playing with language. I love the satisfaction of structuring a whole poem from just a single line or thought, and making lines rhyme or fit. I like poems that have a dark intensity and a flow to them, and that's what I try to create with mine.
In Cold Rain
In cold rain, you can feel my pain
The wet trickle of spine
The sharp fold of blades that pierce your twitching heart
Only you can feel the rough steel
Twisting through the days we've been apart
In wind's damp days
You'll find that bird of song and praise
High on the roost of the eggs it lays
Enamored with you as you were with it's ways
In silence now it stays
As the sun rises
Hope springs in different guises
And through your solemn eyes
You who always scorned my sweet surprises
Shall see it form in all it's shapes and sizes...

Before the Creeping Dawn
It is night in the town
Where the softly split, apple picked orchard eyes
Of the hungry thieves
Cast clasped hand gazes
Rolling down the crooked cobbled alleys
Where the devil darkness blazes
Sailors in turncoat tunics roar with sleep
Dingle deep in rum-soaked dreams
Through treasured seas, swashbuckled skies, skivvy beaches,
And battle gun blasting beds
Tearing flags to tie around their oak carved,
Mast hoisting heads
The slow-tapping, crow-flapping glow
Of the chamber-dwelling, moon-talking star keeper
Angel white though on...

I'll Be The One
I could excavate your fickle mind, searching hard in hope to find, if love and care entwined, within you from the start. I could spend a lifetime chasing dreams, that shine like effervescent beams, into the sky you call your heart. I'll never part, with memories of sunny days, apple trees and quiet bays, that guide me through the ropey fog and eerie maze of how you feel, and how I gaze upon your life. You're nothing but reflections in a world of mirrors cast from strife. Your shadow doesn't trust your glow, enough to paint your picture slow, behind you as you go. Weary of your heavy toll, the...

Seasons of the Heart
Born of winter's womb, the quiet warmth of spring in bloom surrenders
all it's splendour, shaking off and making room, for summer's wind so
tender. I'll mend her, from her aching trials of labour I was once
inclined to savour. Now I'll save her, still flowing like she does
without a quiver of the danger, motioning to please me with her words
which I find stranger. I'll delve into her mind to find a way in which
to change her.
Born of summer's glare, the easy life of autumn
sun reveals the branches bare. Beyond the dawn the apple's spawn, ...

As Life Goes On
As I look upon these lands of time unchained
I see the sun is brought where once it rained
and the darkness of the night, as though to balance out the sight
emits a dying wish for what is gained.
As I walk along this path of staring eyes
I feel their burning pupils pass me by
Their inviting amber glow, is the only thing I know
more powerful than poetry of lies.
As I weigh the life I lead up pound for pound
I start to feel that love is where I drowned
and rescued from the deep, like a flower in my sleep
the ocean's grave was where my heart...

Never Look Back
Time passes, and through it's tinted glasses
I see the souls of ghosts I knew as lassies.
O'er crimson leaves the wind holds down the roses
to watch the folding turn of clouds in poses
'til thunder rolls and splits the roaring sky like nature's moses
Sweeping rain, the angels cry in mortal pain.
The tides of creeping mercy neither care of what nor who was slain.
Clear as day, as clear as icy water's gentle waves a-lapping
break upon the eerie bay, the angels pray.
The secrets held by men who sought to throw their lives away,
forever stay,...

A Night in November
That distant kiss, that rainy night
the sparks kept us warm
as we stood by that awful pub
I hate how much I loved you
my heart was not mine, but ours, for us
however tangled, confused, and caught up
I look back sometimes to check if you are looking too
but then i realise...
You never looked to begin with,
and that I never knew.

The First Wave
Thunderous raptures of light from the clouds, emblazon my eyes with flashes, and cries from the crowds of hell erupt in my ears, tolling the bell of the damned as it crashes and melts in the fire of fears, still raging like an infinite sea of tears and broken dreams. I cry mercy in the night, in the reams of engulfing pain against which i struggle to fight. Screaming gods in black on horse back gallop from the skies, around them flies an army of immortal crusaders, their burning torsos tear through the acrid air with morbid passion, upon my thoughts this woeful wave of doom came crashing....

I Live Within Thee
Home is where the heart is, I've heard that said before,
and if that's the case, your eyes, your face, are my windows and my door.
Your smile is my lawn, your hair my dawn, your lips they line the path
your heart is the fire that fuels my desire, my cozy bed's the way in which you laugh.
The walls are your love, that support my roof of hope above,
and every decoration, in this home in which i thrive,
is every time you've looked at me, and made me feel alive.
When i come in cold and tired, from the dark unsheltered night,
your body is the bath i need,...

The Blinding Pain
Shrill is the cry of the blinding pain, yet still i hear no weeping
where armies of hope and dreams were slain, in a land of eternal sleeping
a river of darkness flows deep in my veins, where the blood boiled dry from my heart
sorrow falls in sheets of rains, eroding my wishes apart.
Still is the lonesome tired night, as i wait for your ghost to arise
where destiny's match once struck shone bright, now stands as a beacon of lies
the clipped wings of angels and paradise birds, scatter my streets with the litter
once was the sky so heavy with words, now is the...

A Simple Act of Love
Wistfully wishing away, as i sit here by the bay
the water cools my tired feet, the wind it breathes the day
i toss a penny in the stream, the cost of a dream to pay
and wish upon the clouds that pass, so happy as i lay
My worries are buried beneath the hills, my sorrows all drowned in the sea
the only thing that bothers me now, is the way i used to be
the sky seems so much bluer now, the light it shines so free
as i lay in the shade of the home that i made, by the trunk of a great willow tree
I now have learned to smile and laugh, where...

I Fought for the Sun
From dusk the light seeps back in the trees, and winds its way down under
The darkness consumes the dying breeze, and tolls the midnight tundra
The ghost of summer's easy wind, has cast it's mortal breath
From this night on your body's pinned, with frost, and chill, and death
The nimble bat that slept the day, can sense the death of light
But even such ominous creatures as they, won't brave the embittered flight
In a cavernous den they bide their time, watching the foolhardy souls
Who chose not to listen to warning bells chime, for they know of...
