To him you’re nothing
It wasn’t real love
He just wanted someone to control
Someone to be crazy about him
Someone to entertain him
He tried to control your words
Your thoughts
He needed to know everything
You mistook that as caring
But it was obsession
It was power hungry need to control
You were a doll
That he used to exercise his will
To him you were a blank face in a crowd
Interchangeable
Replaceable
He doesn’t notice you
He doesn’t miss you
He doesn’t need you
He doesn’t message you ...
He just wanted someone to control

Someone to entertain him

You mistook that as caring

Black and White Projector
I think of you in every moment
I see you in everything
Somehow your name finds me
And pins me in a trance
The places where we used to speak
Are now drenched in your words reek
I close my eyes and the memories replay
Like an old projector
It glitches and clicks
Black and white images
Displayed on the insides of my eyelids
The reel flickers as it ends
I reload the movie reel
And play it again, and again
To an audience
Of only me
The movie plays
Everyday
I see you in everything
Somehow your name finds me
And pins me in a trance
The places where we used to speak
Are now drenched in your words reek
I close my eyes and the memories replay
Like an old projector

Black and white images

A myriad of light
Shines through my window
It cascades multicoloured light
At the foot of my bed
I try to raise my head
But there’s a heavy feeling
Weight down on my chest
My blanket feels like
It’s made from lead
The sunlight burns into my skin
Reminding me
That unfortunately
I’m still alive
Shines through my window

Another night I lay awake
Hopeless and heartbroken
If I finally fall asleep
You’re waiting for me in my dreams
Then when I wake
I’m confronted with an oh so familiar ache
I found my way back to you
Years after years
Despite the horrible things you did
How can I get over it?
How can I truly let you go?
When I know
Years can go by
But my feelings
Will keep burning inside
When I see your name
Electricity will burn through my veins
If that day is...
Hopeless and heartbroken

Gold Flecks
You did so many terrible things
But if you loved me half as much
As I loved you
You wouldn’t have been able to hurt me
Your dark was alluring
You understood my edges
But your jealousy
So sharp sliced me apart
Reflecting in your eyes

Heart Debt
You said you’d never leave me
But that’s what they all say
And in the end they leave
Leave me with heart debt
I have given my entire heart
To my past loves
So now my hearts negative
It a black burn mark in my chest
I overdraw a piece of heart
To give it to my darling
It’s all I have to give
They mindlessly take it
I keep slicing at my loaned heart
Falling deeper
And deeper
Into love debt
In the end my love leaves
But I always find a new love
To overdraw my heart to ...
But that’s what they all say

Serial Killer
Chained in my basement
They’re rattling around
How I love when they struggle
I savour their fearful sound
I slowly walk down the stairs
The steps creaking underneath me
I meet their gaze, their eyes filled with despair
Meet, meat,
Their flesh is just a piece of meat
And I’m ready to start carving
They scurry to the corners
Pulling their chains taught
I hold a blade tight
I toss is from my left hand to my right

The Toy Makers Favourite
I sit in the corner
Of the closed toy chest
Staring at all the toys
Their glassy eyes
Once shinny
Are now dull and void
I try to reattach my limbs
That are hanging on
With an inch of string
The box opens
And in reaches a greedy hand
Grasping for a play thing
To rip apart
I tremble in the corner
Whimpering in pain
All the toys hold their breath
Begging to not be chosen
This is like a game of Russian roulette ...

You sat on your throne
Alone in an empty castle
Ruling over nothingness
I hid in my tower
Singing my melancholic tune
Waiting to be rescued
The days past
The years
I knew you weren’t coming
So I braved the danger
And scaled down my tower
My feet landing solidly on the fresh dirt
I knocked on your castle door
The emptiness made the sound echo
It echoed until it was engulfed
I waited but you never came
You were tied to your throne
