The familiar coldness
Clawing in my veins
Bloodshot eyes
Lethargy
A deep sadness
The depths of loneliness
Stretch over the corners
Of my field of vision
And everything in between
Dreams repeat memories
I want to forget
Sleep or awake
There’s no respite
From this life of heartache
The familiar coldness
Feels comforting
Because it’s all
That’s ever been there

You called me intoxicated
“Look, I like you”
That’s what you said
You don’t do this (you said)
As you crawled into my bed
And seeped into my head
You called me sweetheart
Words so soft like petals
Sweet nothings
You we’re with her
But you said
“I want to date you”
I told you I fear abandonment
“I’m not going anywhere”

I know I’m too needy
But “it’s fine”

Each grain of sand
Creeps down the hourglass
Feeling the depth of each breath
The air is heavy
It drowns
Trembling finger tips and toes

Lights glare through
The light illuminates your fingertips

A Cold Heart
There’s cold in my bones
That’s been freezing my tears
For years
With blue fingertips
I chiseled love
Into the frost
It’s not much and it’s not hot
But I made it
And it’s all that I’ve got
Shatter me
Hack, attack
Break my ice heart
The glistening crystal shards
Cut when they caress
Behold the snowstorm
Cold hearts sleep in warm beds

Your words cut to my core
A heartless monster
Ripping me limb from limb
You took my trust and laughed at my pain
I explained everything
I told you everything

To see my raw feelings

Played me
Betrayed me

Sitting alone in a car park
Late at night
Rain on the windows
The droplets glistening
A soft glow of streetlights
A muted fuzz in the air
These thoughts plague me
You were it to me
The only thing I saw
But when I was close to you
I felt alone

You kept demanding MORE

Blue eyelids
Cold lips you kissed
I gave you all (more than anyone could give)
My blood
A red waterfall
I can’t speak (you’d kill me, you narcissist)
There’s nothing to say
Everything is bleak
Bags of blood (love letters written in maroon ink)
Tear them apart
Drown in the flood
My body an empty shell (depression is hell)
On your palms

The Heart Butcher
Dear the girl who comes next,
I gave him my heart
Over and over again
And he sold it
He sold my love
Then after all the pain
The nightmares and heartache
I let him in again
Just for him to treat me the same
I spilled my feelings onto pages for him
He said my poems
Brought tears to his eyes
But those were just more lies
When he left his said
He did not do anything to me
But what he did not understand
Is that love is everything to me ...
