POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
UNTITLED
Maturity is a concept
Virginity a construct
Age is a label of societal conception
I plead with them to understand
I'm no longer a child
He stole that long ago, hacked my innocence away with a knife
The law will be on my side
In a year or so
For now they try to rob me
Your touch is all I need
My skin yearns to collide with your own
My bones cry out, I pretend they jut out because they want to leave and seek you out
Big city
Small apartment
Endless love
Hold me
Shelter me from judgement

Take me to the city
The city
This city
Our city
The bright lights and the late nights
The bars and streets and shops
The beautiful people and the high society
This is the life my soul longs for
It calls out, no, it screams and cries when I'm dragged away
Suburbia is a cage
Small towns breed small minds
I can't stay much longer
Not now that I've gotten a taste
A taste of the good life, a taste of the city
A taste of you
The city is freedom
The lights serve as the best high money can buy
Now I know why multitudes sell their souls
Just for...

Will you burn her?
She runs to him
But her eyes betray her
She's looking at you
His touch is comfortable
Inexplicably familiar
But yours is fire
She yearns for the flame
Neither know that she'd drop it all
Leave the boy who'd give her the world for the chance to see if you'll burn her
Desire is liquor
We all want a taste
But too much will render you
Helpless
Senseless
Numb
Dead
But her eyes betray her
She's looking at you
His touch is comfortable
Inexplicably familiar

Don't Fear the Night
Some shuffle their feet
Trying to slow the inevitable journey to our destination
Staring at the ground
Trying to avoid watching what presides over most
The sun and moon dancing opposite each other like partners in a waltz
Replacing each other in the sky
Their dance rules our lives
The changing of night and day
Taken for granted
Yet a rule never broken
Except by some
I dare you to question boundaries
I dare you to break the barrier
Welcome the replacement of light into dark
Don't fear the night
Trying to slow the inevitable journey to our destination
Staring at the ground
Trying to avoid watching what presides over most
The sun and moon dancing opposite each other like partners in a waltz

You Are Worth It
Infecting thoughts
Convincing yourself you aren't worth it
But to some
The presentation of your presence is a present within itself
To some you are the world
To yourself your own image reflected in a mirror makes you sick
A mirror isn't a mirror it's a representation of your worst nightmare
You waste the space in your brain with self deprecation
But I promise
You are worth it
Why would God waste skin,
Waste breath,
Waste energy,
On something not worth as much as the space you are taking up?
I have been where you are
I have...

Inner Wonderings of a Morbid Soul
Gone is the day
Soon is the 'morrow
Death is coming
Creeping
Hiding
Darkness inhabits the soul
I like to scream at what I cannot change
Life is drawings in the sand
Washed away by waves
Crashing
Drowning me
I can't breath
Why is everyone gone?
Where am I?
Is this infinite abyss reality?
Or is it as superficial as what God's sheep are too meek to question?
Reality isn't real
I can mold it like clay
I laugh
You call me crazy
But true sanity is not blindly accepting what is easily handed to you on a silver...

For Mom
When people write Mother's Day poems
They are full of,
"When I think of my mom, the word feels like a warm hand" and sap like that
But I want to tell it how it really is.
My mom,
Is the one who drags me out of bed and drives me to school because the bus is too crowded, or because I am simply too lazy to wake up early enough to catch the bus
The one who tolerates when I blast heavy metal music from my room
The one who encourages my academic goals
My mom is the one who takes me to the hospital when my various aches and pains spill out of my body in...

I Fell In Love
I fell in love with a southern boy at the age of thirteen
When my dad told me that boy may not share the same thoughts,
The same values as I,
I felt my heart about to burst like a water balloon hastily filled by the hands of an eager child
So I took out my favourite picture
The one with his arm around my waist,
Holding me close,
And my heart was full again,
My mind filled with thoughts that love is worth fighting for
That love is something you only get once
Love,
Love is when you put aside your political differences and you appreciate, each...
