Hair, Skin, Smile,and Face
Pecan-tan
Soft-haired
Pretty little Keshia
Girl Let me say
it's my pleasure to meet ya
With her soft,
curly-kinky,
afro-puffed strands
She does some things
that are good to this man
I walk to where you are
just to be near you
I feel like dancing
Every time that I see you
Smile like the sunshine
Voice like bells on the breeze
Quickens my breathing
and weakens my knees
Barely audible sometimes
But the sound of her every word resonates in my ears
and lifts my soul ...

State Patrol
riding the long Interstates
To add your dinner dollars
To some politician's plate
A patrolman's car next to City Hall
Making his quota for the Officer's Ball
A deputy sheriff
on a dusty back road
Taking cash from your pocket
Over some old traffic code
Waiting
Plotting
Lying in wait
No matter where you're going or why
It's the thirst for dollars they must slake

I ever saw?
A blue macaque and a blue macaw
Wrapped up in a neon blue mackinaw
Yep some folks needs to stay out the dictionary (me, mainly)
The scary part is that all these words are real
That first pompous monstrosity translates to "Natural beauty hides glaring incompetence" in real people words

Not just Black
But Beautifully Black
A Blindingly Brilliant Blackness that absorbs all the sun's light
Perfectly
And soaks up all the attention, love, and adoration one can give to skin so lovely
And returns one thousand-fold a wonderful, visual magic more powerful than even the most fertile, imaginative mind could envision
She is that which I crave
Desire for her purifying, permeating, and flavoring the very air that I breathe
Her color igniting my hunger with every look
She is gorgeously dark
Skin glistening...

Toxic Masculinity?
To what or
To whom?
The noun itself or
The dosage?
Breathing air kills a goldfish
Lungs full of drinkable water,
will kill a human
Table salt is death to a garden slug
Yet it makes the gravy over my rice taste fantastic
Nearly as satisfying as the cube steak from whence comes its flavor
Salt does not make proper lemonade
Neither does sugar create a spicier chili
But without bravado and brashness and puffery some folks might never become as brave as they claim
Fearless, hard-hearted...

I don't like the way that dress squeezes your beauty and restricts the mesmerizing flow of your movements

Seems like only yesterday that I met you
I know that's not right
Cuz I was a man, fully grown, when I made you my own
Looking at my time with you
I realize how much more I have grown as a man
The years have flown
The passage of time feels swift
But I have not missed a thing
Not one kiss or caress
Not a hug
Or a meal
Or the way that you've shown me
that the words you speak
Mirror what you feel
Not once do I feel like I'm missing out on anything by spending my time with you
It's been years ...
