He saw it like an hour ago
that’s fine, that’s fine,
That’s totally fine
That’s the second message in a row
it’s fine, it’s fine
it’s totally fine
maybe he’s busy,
maybe he’s working
maybe he just
doesn’t have time
maybe bad jokes
are just not his thing
That doesn’t mean
he doesn’t wanna be mine
All the second guessing
because I just need to know
Books filled with the greatest stories
but how exactly does mine go
Why doesn’t love have a protocol
a few easy steps to follow...

Why
Why do they make it so hard
Being a girl, being gay, being black, being trans
They make me sad, they make me afraid
Am I so crazy for crying
Don't keep denying, people are dying
Why can't I be paid equally?
Why can't they enjoy each other's company?
Why did you kick him out of your family?
Is this really who you want to be?
Am I supposed to raise my children, in this world filled with hate
When I'm supposed to be happy for her
I'm afraid my daughter gets drugged on her first date
Where I need to tell my son it's okay to...

So pretty
My rose has thorns
But the pretty petals are worth the blood
Such beauty is worth a little pain
Pricking every time you touch
And after a while you don't feel it
All you see is gorgeous red
Numb but able to hold it
Holding it till it's dead
So forever I guess
It won't die in my hands
Why would you die
if you had the chance
to be held and to be seen?
Their own blood on your skin
You can't leave me now
No, not after everything

Green
Green, so much green
I wish I was blue or yellow
Not both
Blue makes every voice quiet
Yellow makes the angry voices lighten up
But green makes the good voices quiet
You're so yellow
As sunlight, as honey, as bees
It makes me greener
With every breath you take,
the angry ones get louder and louder
They hate me
Wow they really hate me
But they like you
They're right
The most beautiful yellow
The brightest yellow
It burns my eyes
It turns my skin even more green
I wish I was yellow or blue

New year
I was brave for once
And now I am so proud
Of everything I've achieved
For letting myself speak out
For growing and changing
And now I can say without a doubt
Just be yourself and live out loud!
No clue who I am
Or where I'm meant to be
But I feel like I'm on the road
On the road to becoming happy
I found friendship and love
It took me so long to see
That I decide my fate, not them, me
So the year ends
And to tell you the truth
I don't think I'm ready
I'm going to get a whole new
year with...
And now I am so proud
Of everything I've achieved

I made a real friend today
Isn't that crazy?
He likes me
I like him
That's it
That's great
We talked for like two hours
Online but still
I could have gone my whole life
Never really knowing this person
But I didn't
I showed interest
He showed me the same
Isn't that awesome?
We just had that moment of connection
Of honesty and empathy
That's what makes us friends
Isn't that just great?

Nothing can compare

Nothing changes
Every evening feels the same
I'm alone in my room
And I just feel sad
There's no reason
And every day I want to change that
And I thought I could
If I just worked harder
If I just went out more
If I just talked more
If I could just have you
I did it
I achieved my goals
I won, right?
So why am I still here?

What's worse?
Is it worse to be hated or to be forgotten?
Is being burned really worse than to fade away?
Is it selfish to think otherwise?
Rumors turn into stories and stories to legends
A little piece of immortality
They'll be known to people who haven't met them
It's not hero versus villain
It's villain versus side character
We all know hatred in some way
Irrelevance is way scarier
Power comes with being feared
No such power comes to the people who disappear
Guilt lasts just as long as regret
Neither matters when you're dead
Is being burned really worse than to fade away?

Never showed her friends

God, if they only knew
But with you I dive deeper
Finally found what's underneath
and oh my god it's beautiful
A coral reef with a million fishes
All those colors dreams and wishes
Water so clear now I can see through
And all of this is...
