Pride The Peacock's Behind
Intoxicated by pride,
Not arrogant
I just hold myself high.
High in a sense that i apply,
The best in all that I do.
So forgive me if i walk past you
Head held high,
Not thinking I'm better than you
While being the best of me.
I'm stinking rich with pride,
Watch selfworth drip from my pockets,
Wealth ooze from my aura
As I stand tall,
Chest to sky,
Flaunting myself like the peacock's behind.

Too Late Suicide
I slit both wrists
and pray to God I drain slowly.
feel every vein in me
pump blood out of my body.
No fight left in me,
No reason to be,
So this is my last story.
I sit here,
legs stretched out in front of me
thinking of what life should be.
I'll use this forum of DU Poetry
To leave a piece of me.
I feel okay,
Just numb around wrist and the thumb.
My hearts beating a little fast
but nothing to be alarmed.
I've tried and failed and failed and tried, failed again
I'm just tired.... ...

Death By Life
Blood in my eyes,
not liquidized
metaphorically speaking of
pain and hatred,
Realistically speaking,
I'm hurting.
Trying to cope with the pressures of life,
Life becomes too much
yet not enough
At the same time, so many hands
Stretched out to me
But none for me,
walls closing in around me
I can't breathe, claustrophobia.
This tightened grip around my neck
its suffocating,
Rhetorically speaking
I'm dying.

Bold Villains
The world is vastly changing,
The villains are winning cause,
Villains don't wear masks no more,
they don't hide in the shadows
they come straight to your door
look you right in face
and call you,
Friend.
You won't see it coming
cause you're blinded by pretense.
The fake smile on their faces'
the offered, 'helping hand'
Best not tell your problems
to the one who think they could solve them,
They cry with you then laugh behind you,
Always there but never there when you.....

Trust is a wonderful feeling,
Trusting and being trusted

Montserrat The Emerald Isle
Sweet little Caribbean vibe,
Rich with pride
From cassava bread
to coconut dumplings
Beautiful Emerald Isle
Watched Soufriere Hills volcano kiss the sky
She ruptured, fire before our eyes,
Ocean floor to shoreline,
Preserve this land which is mine,
Reducing pollution,
Recycling debris
Protecting this Emerald City
Steel-pan drumming,
Masqueraders parading
The street's festivity,
Such freedom exude
As culture expressed by
The local dances and...

Failed Love Harmonized
Hollow stand
Framed house
Brick walls
Where we once danced
Fragrance of romance
One final glance
It is no more
The day you walked out the door
You took my time into your hands
Failed a love that had a chance

Single Mother's Story
A lot of you may begin to judge me
When I tell this, my story
of a mother who loves deeply
maybe with too much sincerity.
I have two kids
two different dads
I did not predict life to be this way,
Yet I'm thankful for my boys every day.
I work hard, I don't play,
I'm single
I must say.
I was sheltered in my younger days
First chance I got, I strayed.
I met the man I thought was the one,
So rough edged and daring.
spent sleepless nights wondering,

Men of the Soil
He looks to the ground
Where ever he walked,
He smile at the jokes meant for his laugh.
He doesn't cry but you can see it in his eyes
He pains inside
There is no telling whats on his mind
When all he says is, " Honey I'm fine"
Women, don't patronize him,
He has feelings to,
Just be supportive of your man
He will see it through.
Remind him you are there
