Single Mother's Story

A lot of you may begin to judge me
When I tell this, my story
of a mother who loves deeply
maybe with too much sincerity.
I have two kids
two different dads
I did not predict life to be this way,
Yet I'm thankful for my boys every day.
I work hard, I don't play,
I'm single
I must say.

I was sheltered in my younger days
First chance I got, I strayed.
I met the man I thought was the one,
So rough edged and daring.
spent sleepless nights wondering,
where he was and what she's like,
emotional rollercoaster,
Well out of that came my first born son
And at some point I had to move on.

I went on with my life
as any woman would.
I held against most men
the pain I elude.
The years went by,
most time I cried
and through that came second son
and I hope to God he's the last one.
So as I grow old and men deceive me,
I pray my boys would never leave me,
long enough so they'd forget me.
