Poet Introduction
Blue personality.
Bittersweet
Half a gallon of ice cream
chocolate
Half a gallon of ice cream
feels so good on a wound
Shed not a tear, mind grinding
I'm sure they'll be happy together
Heaven knows I was
Half a gallon of ice cream
chocolate
Half a gallon of ice cream
raining outside, freezing
but ice feels so good on a wound
yes, ice feels so good on a wound.

I'm sure they'll be happy together

Half a gallon of ice cream

raining outside, freezing
but ice feels so good on a wound
yes, ice feels so good on a wound.

Forsaken
A ballerina stands, tall before the bar
destined to rise a shining star
she tightens her grip, determined to be
strength, elegance, magnificent to see
with a powerful spring she leaps to her toes
poised on the edge of becoming a rose
her breath tightly drawn her figure is stone
perfectly held, though not on her own
the Master examines her efforts with care
and knows that her brilliance will never bloom there
It will not be easy, she'll surely object
when the bar is removed, though not in neglect
Silence ensues as He watches her rise
from her...

Love?
Once upon a time, what a beautiful phrase,
There lived a small girl who was happy, and brave
Her parents divorced in befuddling haze
The love between parents was all the girl craved
She grew up with questions afloat in her mind
Which caused her to ponder, and think for some time
She searched for answers that she could not find
Alone in a world where her parents weren't kind
"Daddy," she asked, as he tucked her in bed
and kissed her good night as tradition so pled
"What is this 'love', is it all in my head?"
He sighed and he...

Dear April,
I always felt invisible
lost, unsure, confused.
I had no control
over my world.
I wish I could say
what it is like
to find yourself
at last.
At last
I have yet to claim my freedom.
I wait, still
for the day, that day
when I will no longer
make excuses.
I fear, though,
I will.
and yet
Despite my prison
My guilt, my time,
I have learned a truth.
So sweet, yet hard
so hard to face,
that helps me
make it through.
Now
I have control,
it's mine, my...
