Veil Our Faces
We languish in solitude,
the days crumbling into dust.
Our lives set to a pause,
a world fret in mistrust.
The weighted stares we avoid
as the masks veil our faces.
A tape marks where to stand,
Distance expanding our spaces.
A new normal we are often told,
the strategy to flatten the curve.
With jobs lost, unrest, and death,
Will there be anything to conserve?
Now with talk of a second wave,
the lock downs will hit us more.
A wave that grows as it moves
closer to our societal shores. ...

Into Quietness
The misty, whispering rain starts to fall
as I trace my finger against
the cold glass, following a drop.
The irregular starts and stops
making the task cumbersome,
finally falling quicker than
I could ever anticipate.
The distraction dissolves in seconds,
my thoughts being consumed
by time once again.
Time.
I was to mend in time.
I tried to escape,
tried to restrain my pen into quietness,
to hide it from his face,
to erase him from its reach...

Endless Circles
It begins again.
The pen, long dormant,
comes alive as it starts
to skim the paper
like a smooth stone thrown
off the surface of the water.
The words spill out,
stirring the stars to
cast endless circles around her
while revealing their light,
a light which has
guided her verses of prose.
The spark is no longer contained
igniting across her mouth,
burning spirals of colors
that float out the window
colliding with a frigid night air
leaving her to bask
in its afterglow.

The Sea Captain
The ship cut the savage waters,
washing her with an icy spray,
A howling wind sloping the mast,
a dark shroud covering the day.
The swelling sea caused her to roll,
battering men on the weathered deck.
They clung to anything they could,
trimming the sails with a check.
The Captain exited his aft quarters
observing the work that was required,
But his thoughts were preoccupied
by the woman he long desired.
In his hand, he clung to a letter,
worn and crumbled from...

Sleep Never Comes
Wrapped in a sea of blankets,
sleep never comes.
Sorrow fills the empty spaces
of my mind as I stare
into a ceiling of stars.
I've grown weary
of yearning for you,
of imagined pleasures,
of how your finger would feel
tracing the edges of my mouth
as my heart quickens
with the anticipation
of tasting your
soft, rich lips.
Feeling my delicate body
broken into pieces
by your touch
as the aching warmth
wraps tightly around me.
These images slip away
spiraling downward...
sleep never comes.
Sorrow fills the empty spaces
of my mind as I stare
into a ceiling of stars.
I've grown weary
of yearning for you,
of imagined pleasures,
of how your finger would feel
tracing the edges of my mouth

The Words Strewn
The sky was once stained
with vibrant colors, a light
pierced through the surface
illumining the words inside.
Even with closed eyes, I
would discover them as
they fluttered around me
matching the rhythm
of your voice, ending
in a glowing embrace.
But the voice has gone silent,
as each hour dissolves
from present to past.
A crack, that started small,
has grown, tearing me apart.
The sky is now choked off
by rotting clouds.
The colors muted,
the words strewn,
ripped away...
with vibrant colors, a light
pierced through the surface
illumining the words inside.
Even with closed eyes, I
would discover them as

My Petal
My body thirsts for you.
enslaving me until
there isn't space
for anything else.
Words, imagery, prose
no longer quench
my desire to have you.
I quiver at the thought
of opening myself to you,
of you tasting the dew
from my petal,
gradually coming undone
only to have you gather me,
piece by piece,
reassembling me until
I become the girl
you yearn to possess.
enslaving me until
there isn't space
for anything else.
Words, imagery, prose

A Golden Light
With head bowed, the prayer begins
but my mind is far from you.
An immeasurable distance has grown
that I can scarcely hear your voice.
The despair overtakes me as
I submerge into its depth
until i can no longer see,
surrounded by a darkness that envelops me.
A faith swiftly draining from me
as I frantically search for the breach inside.
The words of the prayer
summon His Spirit
which starts to hover over,
unbeknownst to me.
My body suddenly feels weightless
as tingles flow over it.
It's then I...
but my mind is far from you.
An immeasurable distance has grown
that I can scarcely hear your voice.
The despair overtakes me as

A Beautiful Death
The loneliest of lights,
from the smallest of stars,
comes on me tenderly,
illuminating the pages
scattered on the bed.
Looking through your words,
I couldn't find the answer that
I sought for so long.
Evidence of a love I imagined,
of endless images of your mouth,
kisses so gentle they felt
as if from a summer breeze.
All the pieces fit perfectly.
My hand on your chest,
your touch on my skin,
my eyes closed, lips parted
as I exhale my pleasure.
We pulled each other down, ...
from the smallest of stars,
comes on me tenderly,
illuminating the pages
scattered on the bed.
Looking through your words,
I couldn't find the answer that
I sought for so long.
Evidence of a love I imagined,

A Child's Dream
The sun had passed
as a dark velvet
blanketed the sky.
A flickering street lamp
provided a dim light.
This is how the dream started.
She steadily walked into
an unrelenting wind
which cut through her
stealing the last warmth.
Her clothes clung to
her seven year old frame.
Through frightened eyes,
She could make out
A playground
in the distance.
After some time,
She finally stepped
onto the mat,
her footsteps failing
to register a sound.
The silence was...

blanketed the sky.

I Am Fear
I am fear.
I come for
My nightly feeding.
I see her sprawled
Out on the bed
Already enmeshed in angst.
She closes her eyes
in an attempt to
Beat me back,
But I know the way in.
I whisper my lies
Which i paint
As promises.
She pleads for peace,
For the fire
In her head
To be put out.
But peace is not
What I came to give.
My purpose here
Has always been clear,
To see her doubt,
To see her unravel,
To see her cry out.
And though her pills
Will drive...
