POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Shutter of Sparrows
From the provinces I sped
Beyond cannon shot and cacophonies of dread
Into vauntful skies of vaulted wind, which the Autumn's blessed
With the wild flourish of their hands.
Beneath a million leagues of saffron dawn
I heard the crescendo of lunar tides
Spitting primrose crystal bract
High against the bisque of emerald night.
Egyptian tongues of limestone
Talking time and space
To panoramas of breathless beach
Drunk on ripcurls of bleached azure.

no worries, darling, all is groovy as grass
tiles dirt stained, walls
of moss and a roof cracked thru
to show the sequined moon.
strangely this place,
of coarsest similitude
smiles into the slinking lurch of a day
and reflects her grin in worthy philanthropies
yon & hither a-cross the bonny bay.
elfin aphrodisiacs of the soil
vibrate golden offshoots of poesy
and subliminal song
which bees & worms well know
& rise to greet the enraptured swell
as weathercock crows
into fiery faery morn
& i reel into the bosom ...

...but Ottilie was too busy to be lonesome
monoweb of chrome.
half-sphere of a bulb
turned its ear into a mirror
to reflect the city full & bare.
down the 80 precocious west
(brighter bigger sink thnn all the rest!)
& gouged preciously his arm,
neck & chest
and glommed a hymn for her
and her and them
and him
onward very directionless &
vertiginous. idealistic dreck of Youth
went truth for a truth
down the void machine.
and dawn brought forth
the icy vest of capitalincest,
self-defeating for the team, yes...

Madame Thundertits of the Long Black Sky,
Let it Be Said
That We Share a Certain Addling in the Eyes
LIFE is made up of such exact contrasts of validity, i
just don't know!
Great unwashed unpleasantness and chivalrous allurements beheld
in such veracity, and ferociously O
hoodwinked lucidity fears to go !
Rent here the walls and disavow. How now
Kablooey went the yard
from hall to hall
All a'buzz with pomp and pulverize!

at the courthouse exactly
at the courthouse exactly
upon a jaunty judicial noon
at the courthouse exactly ecstatically
and not a moment too soon.
O Constable!
Abaddon bless you!
i have been, i believe, most most judicious
this auspicious before&afterlife!
having achieved no unscrupulous wrong-doings on record
& having deceived no one in particular
i think i should very well
go freely into that good and godly night...

on account of my dear friend Marcé , young gentleman of leisure.
let us get you
cleaned up a bit..." he says,
"heroin chic is so passé, and besides,
vomit and blood stains
can be simply a fright
to explain away
in certain company."
OH the wine affixed itself finely
to the body wholly
amongst the glittering multitude dapperly
as the evening stoked languorously on,
blunted slightly about the edges,
but an impalement still, of opulent design.
autoluminescent of the life
that you shall not live
nor understand fully.

Prelude in D flat Major, Spring Nocturne.
The old forever new things....you foolish child!
The closest simplest things"
- Walt Whitman
Goodness it is terribly hot already this year.
The strange glow of the sky remains
And hangs like some anomalous zen ,
A purple and paisley blend of voluptuous restitution!
And what is learned?
That which glitters is the living life,
And life is dull days turned to gold.
The splendid raindrops of Chopin
Observe and cleanse
The epileptic comedy as it goes...

Once I lived in the best chateau
Set in a softness of water and hills."
- Paul Verlaine
Whence upon a dream i saw
the beauty of today ,
gigantically strange.
as hoar-frost bladed my pagan grass and thawed
in lunar light
from the bottom where we bygone beasts do sprawl
not infinite - but ripe,
and head-down into hellion dawn.
& our veins were fast, fit, and proud.

the landscape askews
a curious quarterage
of terracotta
and a gauzy hue
and swoons deeply here,
in an octet of thick air,
like violins of violet hair,
& the coiled watercolor dervish of my hours
counting all the long and slow sighs
that she sighs sadly by the sea-side
where Nolde broods
low, thin ocher over pale sea-light
- yet conceals a cubist sky,
where clouds only bloom halfwise

L|ET us charge on stick horses!
into the city afire
into the answerless blackness
we brats of the prancing revolting
we of the technocolor'd absence
went kissie-kiss down
in unspent clouds of nuclear neon
went keenly across the aftershock of chaos
warmed to the deconstruction and thee abscesses upon
the pale mare of remembrance .
she did gather
lips with pustular blisters
and went whistling...

in a city with no harbor.
...this is how he learnt so well
to take the roses for his meat."

...
...
in a city with no harbor.
because i was tired.
because he was neutral. fainéant.
because i was much too american and less and less.
because my blood was warm as spit, green as brass ,
majestically demure in tall grass. O
sober as a sabre. smoking filters backwards.
counting no-leaf clovers too closely.
counting stars in daylight brightly.

black rose in repose
her pulse inerts itself
in the dirt, my heart
keeps ragged time next to hers,
talks in scoffs, talks
in ticks and tocks
'til blown well to particles apart
to drift lonely as a shiver
quivering in chill dark, and twice so frail
as the slip of a shadow
caught within the hustle and the bluster
of the wicked winds of Winter, piano kissedt of night,
to walk bluely, the baluster rail
over wide black Verona, slick with moonlight
& tears falling, from the God's eye on high. ...
