She was the best part of my day
Your banner flashing across my screen
What a giddy rush
Like opening my first Christmas presents
You’ve cannibalized my thoughts
These neurons fire only for you
Encapsulating your beauty and charm
In those special moments we shared
Perfectly preserved and timeless like a pristine fossil
Life is dull without your brightness,
Cascading over me like a warm blanket
The daily monotonous minutia is mind numbing
Your memory breaks the routine if only briefly

I miss you
So much
Till my chest starts hurting
Left gasping for air
I miss seeing your name
In the list of people
That watch my story
Every time I hope it’s there
Every time I’m disappointed
I see your name
Everywhere
I don’t know why
A constant reminder
From the universe
That I can’t have you
I miss the days when
I would wake up to your texts
We would talk and talk and talk
Like an endless ping pong match
Spilling over into the next days
You broke my heart
I don’t hate you...
So much

Relinquished Life
I hear you in the music I listen to
I see you in the shows I watch
I feel you late at night, softly on the comforter I sleep under
I smell you’re enticing scent as I finally drift into a stupor
The taste of your lips on mine upon waking from my dream
An inescapable grasp on my heart
Bone cold grim reaper clutching; slowing the rhythmic beats into a murmur
My every movement brings a fine, sharp pain to my chest
I let the hurt build; distracting me from the incessant mental anguish
Dream eater; ravenous, hungry Beast! Eat, eat, devour until...
I see you in the shows I watch

The hurt stings all over my body
A Phantom pain that slowly builds
Crushing the reality of the situation;
Searing it into my brain
Like the Frenzied Flame of Madness scorching my every thought to oblivion
They all end the same way
Alone. With my regrets. My dejected hopes. My burden
When will the sun rise? Rise.
Rise and repent your trifling hopes!
Desiccate the miserable wretch!
Turn. Turn and walk, walk away
Weary feet pattering away
Detached, listless pondering thoughts.
Evanescent as my very will ...

A woman exists who has won my heart
These feelings are unreciprocated.
Trudging along through dates
Leads to more rejection and ghosting
Soul crushing blows
One after another
Loneliness settles in
Do I give up or persevere?
Feelings of apathy
Begin washing over my being
Sequentially, like the ocean waves
Breaking on the shoreline of my mind
Everyone is worthy of love
Or so I thought.

Forever forced to play the game
