POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
My full-length book "WAR PAINT - The ART of DISSENT" will be out later this year. It will include all of my visual art, poetry, prose, two sequential short stories, and a spoken word DVD.
To Occupy and Extort - Our Culture of Policing
One of the biggest misconceptions about law enforcement today, is that many of us still think these enforcers are here to protect and serve our communities, and that just isn't true. In fact, I would argue that law enforcement is more of a threat to our freedom and public safety than it is a service to it. For over twenty years, The Supreme Court has ruled, time and time again, that police have no obligation to protect and serve the communities they occupy —and even though it's a very common and favorable belief, it is not their duty to try to keep us safe in the event of danger. It is,...

Ownership is Freedom --an essay from my new book
In our neoliberal society, one’s level of freedom is largely decided upon by how much one is worth —meaning our personal value is most often determined by how much money we earn, and the amount of personal property we can amass. We can attempt to deny or rationalize the absurdity of that statement all we want, but I can assure you, it will do little to change the fact that our personal freedom is heavily dependent on what type of lifestyle we can afford. While real wealth is in the ownership of natural resources, many of us have earned the privilege to acquire things far less valuable —such...

STATE of Nature
On the eve of the second Great Depression —
We found a housing bubble that would pardon the rich —
Carved into the margins of a marketing myth —
Bound to downward struggle as it started to shift,
and you’re the mark, we’ve been targeted, the market is fixed —
Property is robbery, serving an aristocracy
where freedom we observe is subservient to plutocracy,
a dream deferred —“burgeoning democracy”;
reoccurring absurdities converging on hypocrisy
while heeding the words —“fervor” and “philosophy”;
so what's an...

Compassion Fatigue
It's funny how breathing can seem immoral —
Running from our reason, what's seen is perceived as normal,
it's deceiving…but demons just seem immortal
when you're bleeding, and your reaching for reasons to keep it cordial
leads to beatings... All meaning gets lost,
when you've lost all reason for believing at all…
The cost of us dreaming, if we're sleeping at all,
to keep following these leaders as we scream at the walls,
while never leaving — seemingly beside ourselves;
Need to keep some fleeting peace, increasingly declining health…
Time...

From The Ashes
From The Ashes”
….Call me a hater,
But this "shock and awe" shit is a biopic to common causes,
When you buy products like byproducts of products bought —
If I'm honest, what's iconic has fallen off —
Call him off — a Molotov at your favorite artist,
It's a holocaust if your claim to fame isn't flame retardant!
All in all, I could brake a lame in his lane, regardless —
Chase a chart, make a mark — I'll slay the hardest,
Take an aim at targets, erase 'em, and never face the charges!
…And I’ll scrap your little trap movement, ...

Soldiers of Circumstance
Those who have something to fall back on — always do!
No one ever tells you depression is self-induced,
And THAT knowledge is power we cowards will seldom use —
Mountain of excuses, I doubt it'll ever move,
We're just counting down the hours like ours will self-improve,
in this prison of our own design...
Often, while pursuing the pursuit of happiness,
We forget the truth about the rumors that exist —
Endlessly repeating disposable dialogue,
In an emptiness we're breeding while bleeding and dying off...
It was human...

Prime Real Estate
Art and life — two mirrors facing one another
in an archetype of loose fear it takes to govern others...
In related news I'm thinking others find irrelevant,
is a simulated view that seeks to undermine intelligence —
in a stream of consciousness, spinning its wheels
within a vivid dream of providence, beginning to feel
as if a big machine's been watching him…spinning a reel
that keeps him staring into the blaring void…
Where'd he get so paranoid if this isn't real?
There’s chariots full of barren droids, gripping the steel —
Who paid for these...

"Common Man"
What they allow us to know, may be the extent of our knowledge,
see—dollars make sense, and commonly spent on college fees
as "quality debt"—exchanging credits for credit cards commonly kept,
but I don't speak for the common man — I’m common man, speaking —
A profit turned on our promised land where prophets stand, bleeding —
From the palm of his hand, was an honest man feeding
on long-begotten scams that stopped all the stampeding,
like a God-damned accomplishment — nod if you plan on leaving
with a popular contraband, accomplice to man,...

Fault Line
Irony, is the whole world throwing it's hands up, saying:
"It's not my fault. I'm just one person. It's not my job."
Old men tell me it's a young man's fight—
Young men tell me "yeah, but, not right now",
So when young men grow old with unplanned strife,
We all know they're responsible, just not quite how.
Not MY problem—I just gotta live with it.
That's our motto for Monsanto and cancer,
while trying to hit the lotto, 'cause God's got no answer;
We'll choose not to acknowledge it…it'll cease to exist,
Like a top-dollar scholarship given,...

The Devil’s Advocate
The Devil’s Advocate”
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled, was convincing you you’re insignificant…
What good is proof, when it's degrading, and failed debating its modesty?
The truth is, nothing's more alienating than honesty,
I'm a failing commodity...sailing through an odyssey—
Adjacent to a neighbor who's nailing "savior" to "prophecy",
And what if he's right..? Truth is, truth is always something we fight...
Culture of conflict...celebrating an elevated sculpture of convicts,
A pulpit of...

Secret Theatre
A candor that can't speak to questions carefully chosen,
Was standing in stampedes, suggesting "spare me the omen",
The deaf would sing for the enemy...despite our loving advances,
They dress their strings in accessories to hide how ugly a dance is…
Many dreaming of empty things, such mindless dummies would pander—
to a legacy I'm discrediting like some spineless, plundering cancer,
A puppet, armed to the teeth with greed—mouth full of nothing,
Ventriloquist kept his seat in deceit, while counting the money…
Thus, was harder to teach the seeds to...

Attila The Hun
If I could humor myself to believe that sitting on one shoulder—
would be the spirit of Gandhi...Then sitting on the other—
would be some kind of monster...
Barbaric, like Attila The Hun and Godzilla...IN ONE!
The definition of militant in skill of the tongue,
Pillaging whole villages, villainous scum,
Dumb guerrilla...get rid of him, or give him a gun,
God, forgive him...disease is a key component,
It feeds a greed for opponents, and needed to keep focused,
I know you’ve seen it—I walk these streets like I own 'em,
And...
