Brother O' Brother
Oh, how my weary arms
Ache for my brother’s embrace
A year has passed
Since I have seen his face
Golden haired boy
A man tried and true
Sensitive, kind and a joy
Without him I am blue
For I, the eldest
Was charged with his care
Our perils were endless
And he so innocent and fair
Forgive me my many trespasses
As my heart has been true
So many setbacks
I miss you
Ache for my brother’s embrace

You taught me precious secrets
Your black eyes haunt me
The memory of your kiss
An all-consuming love affair
Moments, nay years of bliss
You taught me precious secrets
Things I had never known
How to love desperately
Passion dissipated and now alone
Tu siempre eres mi Feo
Only because you were so beautiful
The paradox of beauty and soul
Breathtaking in your plumages
Left with a forever longing
Of a love affair grown cold
Promises made promises broken
Only memories to behold
The memory of your kiss
An all-consuming love affair
Moments, nay years of bliss

Reciprocity
The noise of traffic
So very mundane
This day blessed with sunshine
The breeze calls my name
In this sameness
One day follows another
If I can live in the moment
Nirvana is forever
Every blade of grass
Clouds birds trees
Animals large and small
Were all designed for me
Mother Earth Omnipotent
There is nothing so divine
Today I will live intently
In this moment in time
So very mundane

Desperately Wanting
I, having had the misfortune
To fall head over heels
You forever remorseless
I, desperately wanting to feel
The thrill of an adventure
A lover such that I had never known
And I have never recaptured
I remain alone
You came to me in midsummer
A knight in shining armor
The errant behavior a primer
A sign of things to come
Oh! How I loved your sadness
Like a Madonna loves her only child
Driving me to the edge of madness
Vain attempts to tame the wild
Years have passed no longer together ...

Touched by Fire
I don’t feel well
Did I take my medication?
I don’t feel well
I have some frustration
The pills must be taken every day
Lest the demons escape
Taken the same time the same way
To keep my brain safe
From roller coaster rides
Dips of high and lows
Polar opposite sides
My anxiety grows
I tell myself that big girls will
Take their medicine every day
They will sit very still
Until the cloud goes away
Did I take my medication?
I don’t feel well
I have some frustration

Call my name
I called you yesterday
Your voice was still the same
Smooth like silk and baritone
You never said my name
And just like years ago
The conversation was all you
Six years have passed
You still don’t have a clue
Of how I loved you or thought I did
In hindsight in was only lust
Your rejection bred my obsession
A realization that seems unjust
For how could I a poor creature
Who turned myself inside out

I was there...

Perhaps
As I get older
Perhaps more wise
I’m beginning to see the world
With different eyes
Perhaps wisdom perhaps grace
Perhaps a forgiving heart
When looking upon another’s face
Knowing we each do our small part
Life is but a speck in time
An ocean that ebbs and flows
Fortune upon us sometimes smiles
But upon the wind it may throw
Us into the depths of despair
Not another day can we survive
With the knowledge and to be aware
Each is but a fleeting moment in our lives
Permanence does not exist ...
Perhaps more wise
