Persephon(Eerie)
Today
your shell was planted
under topsoil
surrounded by florals
every color of spring
I thought of Persephone
descending
into a season of darkness
In that moment
I realized the metaphor
of your moniker—
the strangeness it projected
It is only in murkiness—
a lack of illumination
that seeds escape
the confines of their husks
stretching through the dark
toward a season of florescence
your shell was planted
under topsoil
surrounded by florals
every color of spring
I thought of Persephone

I.
I wish I was a Witch
imbued through grace
beget by the knowledge of Truth
to combat ignorance
I'd proudly proclaim the title
bowing to Mother Nature
for gifting me the moniker
of so brave the women
—maiden, mother, and crone—
who suffered under religiosity
from pointy fingers
and judgmental tongues
condemning them to death
II.

Equal to
My birthday has become
a time of giving and serving
It's an exchange of gratitude
for another year of living
What better way to share
than providing a home
for a rescue kitty
who needed to be loved
Isn't that true for all of us
“And, in the end
The love you take
is equal to the love you make.”

Sacred Dust
In moonlight’s glow
and shadows grey
wafting incense
and cleansing sage
a coarsen circle of salt
seals shut the gate
A potion of spells
begins to take hold
a Life-force of energy
emanating Love
Transcendental planets
begin to align—
Uranus, Neptune
and Pluto by design
The binds of ancient portals
release their sacred lock
Spirits of our Ancestors
beyond the veil come forth
Incandescent bodies of light
illuminate the hour
Ashes of Earth begin to rise ...

Earthlings
In the quiet dawn of an Earthling
when shadows bled with light
we emerged as storm and calm
from oceanic depths
to Zepher heights
Carving our desires
into mountainsides, we climb
with slippery feet and bloody hands
wishing to grasp eternity
in a single grain of sand
We are canyon echoes
rivers tracing invisible lines
across our face
heartbeats of a thousand stories
written in linear time
under Universal grace
Our depths hold savage
and...

Winter's Prose
In autumn's glow, the world begins to rest
And amber leaves descend in weathered flight
The summer's heat now finds a gentler quest
As chilly winds chase the lingering light
The trees, donning their robes of ember gold
Stand sentinel against the waning sun
Their branches reach with tales of seasons old
While shadows stretch as days are nearly done
The air is crisp, a breath of frost and pine
As harvests yield their bounty to the earth
The twilight hours in muted hues align
And nightfall's calm descends with...

Scorpius
What is to give light must endure burning.
~ Victor Frankl
Poems like this are thought dangerous
born of blood, bone
and scorched-feathers
of smoldering ash
stirring the heat
striking the sweat
before spreading wings
to ascend
Dig up an underworld
of hidden truth
beneath the rock of its heart
because poems
like this are thought dangerous
their eyes turning
to the sun
surrendering
earthen words
weathered by war ...
