How Do You Decide on a Headshot Photo for Your Avatar?
You never know how others perceive your value on some micro level. At the same, there's only so many personality types in the world; Deranged, CIA informant, Dead behind the eyes; Devoid, Smart Alec Data Analyst, Anti-smile; Mean-that's me but side profiles tend to absolve you of all those people; safer.

It's definitely safer, but not for the reasons you state. There are crazies out there who love to photoshop your head on different things other than your body!

Interesting method of epitomizing. Everyone has their own reasons of course; mine are just as valid as yours...although this era..social media is teaching the next generation nothing about Pandoras Box-privacy, data mining and potential job loss...at the same time pics tend to extend less power, when they're not attached to the rest of your personal information. Theres a lot to be said for "open disguise," for people don't look like their online pictures in real time; you could pass them on the street and you'd never know plus theres the option of making the avatar too small to manipulate for those stand by originality.
