Poetry Contest

Hell came knocking at my door today in the form of a book, titled, The Scarlet Gospels
This competition, I hope, will be a new and fun competition for anyone who loves to read and loves Clive Barker. It's not going to be an easy one what so ever, but fun and new none the less. Since the book came out today I doubt anyone has head it yet so there will be some homework to be done before entering this competition. The book should only run about 20$ and is 361 pages of medium-large print. So reading it shouldn't be too much to handle in 3 months.

Rules.
Obtain the book
Read the book
Write a dark poem in any form or style about the book
Must be a new poem or prose (well duh)
No word limit

I hope to have tons of participation and great entries.
I'm calling all you horror fans out! I know at least some of you have the book or plan on buying it soon so c'mon!

(Spoiler Alert!!!!! Do not read these entries if you haven't read the book!

It is an awesome book. It's been a while since I've read any Clive Barker and now I realize how much I missed it.

Ok, my friend. I finished the book and I chose to write about the Order that the cenobites are a part of. So, there really shouldn't be any spoilers in my offering.

- - - THE ORDER OF GASH - - -

"We have such sights to show you."

On the fiery steps of
Lucifer's cathedral
Eager masses gather for Him
Draped in chains and black leathers
Infernal faces answer the call
Torment awaits for those
With the blood of the Seraphim

"The suffering of strangers, the agony of friends. There is a secret song at the center of the world and its sound is like razors through flesh."

We are the order of Gash
Lord Lucifer's chosen
The blessed and the damned alike
Modify broken bodies
Taint the lamb's blood and dip it in sin
Along the trail of bones
The Hell Priest claims flesh that's ripe

"The beauty of suffering."

Suffer in denial
As the chains rip the flesh
Invigoration
When pain becomes pleasure
The lamentations
Are the songs we treasure
The congregation
Yes, we are indeed, of the
Configuration

When your paltry God wept
Upon the cross, blood stained
Bitter tears did more than suffice
Suffering the sweet sorrow
We revel in agony and pain
Behold glorious sin
Those fortunate to pay the price

"The box... you opened it, we came."

Splendor and denial
As the chains rip the flesh
Invigoration
When pain becomes pleasure
The lamentations
Are the songs we treasure
The congregation
Yes, we are indeed, of the
Configuration

Alas, we are the damned
Blessed to taste desire
Every inch of tainted flesh
All the way to the marrow
We were baptized within the fire
Behold glorious pain
Maggots crawl just beneath the mesh

... of virgin skin ...

"But please, feel free, explore. We have eternity to know your flesh."

Savor the denial
Holy experience
No intervention
By hollow deities
The lamentations
They are the songs we bleed
The congregation
Yes, we are indeed, of the
Configuration

Suffer in denial
As the chains rip the flesh
Invigoration
When pain becomes pleasure
The lamentations
Are the songs we treasure
The congregation
We will watch indeed as the
Configuration

Tears your soul apart

Awesome! I'm anxious to see what you come up with. The more sick, twisted and erotic the better.

19 Years

19 Years   ! extreme content !
You used to dread him coming home
on a Saturday night
after the two pints,
which were really six.
Having something to eat
before taking you upstairs in the dark.
For a rough grope of your breasts,
perfunctory kisses
then laying you on your back,
aggressively pulling up your nightgown
roughly opening your legs
exposing your cunt
sticking his rough fingers
deep inside your dry cunt
sufficient to make him erect
It hurt a lot
He ignored your body tensing up
He wanted to fuck you
That was his right
Whenever he desired
He was brutal and overpowering
You could not stop him
So you lay there and let it happen
Night after night
Week after week
Month after month
For nineteen fucking years
He just quickly fucked you
in the missionary position
saying insincere words
smelling of smoke and ale
The sex was urgent and hurried
He thankfully came quickly
but for you it never quickly enough,
he could not care if he hurt you
during sex he wanted his rights
and you were there to give it to him.
When he rolled off you
and turned his back to you
before falling asleep
you felt relief that the ordeal was over
for another night at least
Sex was non negotiable
Period or no period
Sex happened when he wanted it
at night after the pub
and you like a dutiful wife
never refused him.
In bed he scared you
He overpowered you
That was the bed you made
When you married in haste
He never asked what you wanted
He made no effort to pleasure you
He just followed the same routine
For nineteen fucking years
he thankfully never came twice
you sadly never came once
you hated sex
He was your first man
Your only experience
You could never talk about it
You thought all women endured this
Then the bastard had an affair
So you left him

Thinking back
did you ever initiate sex
throughout the whole of the marriage,
were you rejected,
do you think he was selfish?

Pinhead Blues

"They're not pins," he insists, "they're NAILS!"
Perhaps so, but they've rusted
And appear to have loosened
Some disengage from the grid of his scalp
And fall to the Inferno's floor
But it's cosmetic, no disgrace
Not likely to slow him down
Mr. P's eye is on the Throne
Where Satan sits in his complacency
With little regard for Hell's future
Or the fate of all mankind
No, his royal sloth will not be tolerated
And NAILhead, proud, defiant, bold
Increasingly pissed off and petulant
May one day reign supreme
Triumphant over both cross and hammer
And knowing, full well, how to raise some Hell.

*RISE* my love

Lucifer, my love,

'And hell hath no fury
like your Hell scorned.'

Stripped of armor, you have been
body tossed aside like trash derived from mortal sin
is far worse than a crime committed by one
who dubs himself the Lord of Hell.

Lucifer, my love,

where have we gone wrong?
When did such creatures made of bone and ash
become such Orders bathing in trinkets of Gash?
These are not Gods of power and premonitions,
these are not Gods worthy of Demonic dispositions.

Speak to me, my love, for I cannot hear
the Sane in your Satan's name.

Rise, my love, send forth the Demons of your Edens;
those evil semen sons derived from semen serpent fathers.

Rage war, my love, and disembowel Hell's Stone Sky,
cast down the Angels and leave the world to bleed itself dry.

Rise, my love, and take your place amidst
the cataclysmic and the bliss.  Rise, my love,
for I need to feel the infernal of your kiss raging on my
distended lips. Rise, my love, and become Hell once again.
Rise, my love, take your place before Hell Priest closes in

and we are doomed.

While intrigued by the entire book, it was the battle between Lucifer and Hell Priest that inspired me to write the above.
