ONE-NINE-FIVE-FOUR
On that special September Friday morning
My mother's tears fell like raindrops in the Fall
For the cries of her new born boy was muffled
As lightning flashed and rolling thunder roared.
On the year I was born
Elvis began his music career
Marilyn Monroe married Joe DeMaggio,
“Live and Let Die” and “The Lord of the Rings”
Were popular books
Who would have thought
They would become blockbuster movies.
Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets
Was very popular then, pop culture was in
Psychedelic art and music filled the air
Babyboomers were in seventh heaven
Drugs, booze and naked women
Purple haze may have clouded their judgment
But future generations maybe amazed
What this generation have accomplished.
There are so many, I will name just a few:
The first mass vaccination
of children against polio began,
the first nuclear powered submarine
was commissioned by US Navy Nautilus
and Boeing 707 took it's maiden flight
The list could go on and on,
But this one is my favorite
Solar cells were invented and first used
Because as you all know
I’m an engineer and advocate
On the use of solar energy.

Big Congrats Rain C (ome shine) and Snuggles - Thanks ML for putting on a great comp and giving me the opportunity to sing an Ode to Otis who did so much more than sit on a dock of the bay and got killed for it (some might say) after Malcolm and before Dr.King in the year of my birth![](/images/forum/smilies/cool.gif)

You're an Otis Redding fan as well ... too cool lol. I'm trying to put together a piece now for another comp based off "(Sittin' on the) Dock of Bay" or "Cigarettes and Coffee"
Cheers
