"Kissing the Air Around Me"

(Broken Promise)
I told myself
I'd never leave her,
but somewhere down deep,
where true-feelings dwell,
I think she had an inkling,
always knew
I would.
And, how can
we stop change.
No matter how hard
we try,
can we rely
on plain-words,
the ones spoken
in the heat of battle,
when lust overcomes reason,
when what is meant to be,
really isn't
necessarily so.
I gave up the fight,
still miss her,
cry alone at night
wondering why
I kiss the air
around me.

Deborahlee, thank you for the poem, a winner because of the promises you made, Lep, so much promise, a pledge, also a winner and Kitty, thank you, I relate so much. Actually all of you are the winner, the top best: there were three types of promises there. Awesome. Participants, Strider, Miki, Ashes, Clio and Sapph, you guys are so talented, an honour to read your work. Thank you!!
