             Humanity !

We both breathe in the same breeze,
But we are supposed to be different.
The rose smells sweet to you and me,
But the society forbids us telling it to anybody.
We look at the same morning sun,
Birds singing gives us joy,
The twinkling stars in the night sky
Both of us sit in the same bench,
Searching for beloveds we lost
In the same blue sky.
But we never held our hands together.
We try to build separate houses
Even when we cant help sleeping under
the same roof.
We smile when we are happy and cry when
we are sad,
The blood that runs in our veins are red
And the ultimate desire of our heart is
peace and joy.

Still you fight with me,
And I try to kill you,
You slang me
Calling me a strange name,
"Hindu !"
And I call you even when I musn't
"Muslim !"

Why do we hate each other?
Because we call the same God by names different?
Or is it because of the different colours we wear?
But remember my friend,
Whether you call Mohammad, or you trust Jesus,
Whether you follow Vishnu, or believe in Buddha,
The things they have taught us is just one !
There is a Mother of every faith we follow,
And if we must reach divinity,
One religion there must be - Humanity !

Freedom vs. Christianity

http://static.flickr.com/49/139527086_622ca8d004.jpg

Freedom is to gun point,
as Christianity is to sword's blade
History has no place to anoint
regardless of how they were spread
The outcome, pretty  much the same:
Bloody hell - what a shame!

Why are you mad and upset
when you receive what they get,
Have you forgotten the golden rule?
"Don't do unto others what you
don't want others do unto you."
...and the popular law on physics:
"For every action, there's an equal
and opposite reaction."
Then, there's this old adage from the holy book:
"An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth"
If we follow this according to its context,
sooner or later we'll all be blind and toothless!

When you conquer other nations
in the name of the cross:
they embrace your faith
and lost their freedom.
How about when you conquer them
in the name of freedom?
Their faith still intact, but...
can you call that freedom?

I guess by now Christianity and Freedom
are two different things; that's why
there's separation of church and state.
But try to look at them closely -
they have some similarities:
dark secrets and more dark secrets!
The "Dead Sea Scrolls" revealed the truth
that was hidden for so long; how many
more scrolls do we need to find
to discover what the church is hiding?
Sooner or later the truth will come to light,
but do we rather not see daylight
for fear of releasing Pandora's wrath?

We try to keep our freedom intact
by spreading it among nations on earth:
fighting tyranny and slavery--sometimes
we have to resort to clandestine operations,
and other extreme measures
only known as "top secret missions"
in order to reach our goals.
Need I say more?

Santera

Santera, I am a pagan in these modern times
in yesteryears I would have been burned
at the stake for my heretic crimes.
Now we seem to be objects of curiosity
fodder for b rated movies or the products
of backward, superstitious societies.

The masses are truly wrong
their lack of understanding underlines
how ignorance and arrogance have gone too far.
How their impertinent fear of the unknown
have kept the truth in the dark for too long.

Santera, with the title comes’ power
but also much responsibility, healer,
teacher, keeper of the lore and spiritual leader
none of which are to be taken lightly;
we are, for our communities,
the heartbeat and tradition keepers.

An ancient belief of pre-Christian times
that has survived genocide, war and slavery,
colonial integration, modernization
and last but not least modern education;
we… are… still… here in this generation
doing what we have always done
living our traditions in this civilization.

*Santera (female follower of Santeria)

CHOICES

WE ALL HAVE CHOICES FROM WHAT WERE WERE MEASURED
ALL HAVE TOILED FROM WHAT WE MADE- OUR LEDGER
ALL HAVE FALLEN FROM DEEDS SO WICKED
NONE ARE MORE RIGHTOUS THEN THE OTHER -
WE WILL NEVER BE LIGHT AS A FEATHER
ALL MUST SEARCH FOR WHAT WE NEED TO FIND
WHETHER IT BE FROM FIELDS OF GREEN
OR THE SEWERS FROM OTHERS BEHINDS
NONE CAN STAND TO THE MAN WITH GAVEL IN HIS HAND
NONE MAY WAGE WAR AND HOPES OF WINNING WITHOUT HIM ALLOWED
WHY YOU MAY ASK, NOT BECAUSE YOUR SIDE HE IS ON
TRULY AND SURELY ITS FOR BOTH TO LEARN, FROM THAT TIME
A SWORD SO SHARP IT CUTS BOTH WAYS, NO LIE
YOU KNOW NO FLESH WAS CLEAVED IN YOUR SELF
AS YOU FEEL THE BURNING PAIN AS THE PAST HITS ITCHES
A LITTLE SATISFACTION FROM YOUR ENEMIES HEAD MAY IT BRING
WHEN IT MATURES LIKE CANCER IT WILL EAT YOU- LIKE A FLING
REVENGE SERVED BOTH HOT AND COLD
COLD AND HARD YOUR HEART WILL BE, WHEN YOU WANT TO EXPLODE
A SMILE A SMIRK A SHORT AHHH FROM YOUR BREAST
WHEN YOU THINK YOU HAVE RIGHTED A WRONG
IN YOUR HAND ITSELF YOU TAKE- YOU MUST REGRESS
WHAT TRUE POWER YOU MUST HAVE WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW THAT ACTIONS
CAN AND ALWAYS WILL BE REPRIMANDED
YOU DON'T KNOW IF THE HURT PLACED ON YOU WAS CRUEL AND IF THAT
GROOL WHAT THROWN RIGHT AT YOU
WAS IT A MISS AIM FOR ANOTHER NOT KNOWN,WHEN THEY MOVED AWAY
LOOK AND SURELY YOU WILL FIND
PEACE AND HAPPINESS WHEN YOU LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND
FOR THE ONE THAT HAS THE MANTLE OF ALL SEEING
WILL MEASURE EACH OF US ACCORDINGLY
FORGIVNESS TO OTHERS WILL BRING ,FREEDOM IN YOURSELF WE WILL SING
DO UNTO OTHERS SHOULD BE MENT AS A WARNING
NOT JUST A GOODIE GOODIE FEELING WE TELL OUR CHILDREN THAT ARE WEENING
IF YOU THROW THESE WORDS AWAY THEN TRUE LIFE FOR YOU WILL STAY FAR AND SAY
I AM HERE. IF YOU MUST KNOW, TURMOIL, SNOW AND ROW FOR YOU WHO DO NOT KNOW
I AM HERE. IF YOU CAN SAY THAT YOU HAVE NOT WRONGED ANYONE AT ANYPLACE OR ANYTIME
THEN BURN THIS NOTICE AND STOP AT A DIME
WHY LIVE HERE IF YOU ALL POWERFULL AND STRONG
MAKE YOUR OWN WORLD AND LET YOUR BLOOD DRIP TO THE GROUND!

our heaven
is the garden
of eden
the garden
of eden
is here
yet we send
our dead
to a heaven
that only exists
inside
our fears

this one

When we are old
wrinkled and crippled
one foot in the grave
destined to a house
with a room
where we sit stareing
at a blank screen tv
while on our knees
we dribble
as our fluoride calcifide brain
decays to the last stage
before our poisoned lungs
noisely sucks in
the last breath
of dirty air
as our ignorance slowly fades
will it
only be then
that a single regretfull tear
will slowly travel
though the cayons
of our corrupted face
when at last
we finaly understand
it was our generation
that created this place
where honesty is batterd
day after day
where common sense
stands alone
bonded
in chains
where the skeletal minds
of our childen
reap all
that we have sown
does it hurt
now that you know
that denile
was never
your friend

Chant Hare Krishna

We'd wake up grateful, chanting hare, hare
at five AM, high on serotonin, rendering coffee
unnecessary
Thankful to Krishna, Rama, Ganesha
learning from Arjuna
studying the Bhagavad Gita
eating prassadum that we offered
to dolls representing Gods
in temple halls
painting Tilak on our foreheads
symbolizing our being soul beings
Giving out flowers, wafting incense
over our auras
asking for peace and wisdom
to get us til tomorrow
in all it's preeminent glory
With our men in orange pants
bald but for a few strands, in back
Our ladies in sarees, making ghee
and beads, for counting
the mantras we could amass
in a day
banging drums and clapping
clanging cymbals and dancing

chanting Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna
and Hare Rama, hare, hare

living organic, vegan
and minimal
life was alright

and our blue god shone
on every wall in every place
and
every home had a rug rug we'd sit on
eating, laughing, talking
learning...
I sat where the Beatles had, before me
singing "Let it Be" and "My Sweet Lord"

looking for God
and finding Krishna
and when I chanted
I was free
I was where I was meant to be
and I knew it

            HOLY TOUCHES.....

Kiss.....
A touch of hope, love and warmth,
A little pain, a little joy, and a little
coming back to the world.
Like the golden light peeping through the
pinewood trees,
Ending the never ending thoughts of wintery nights.
Like the moist after the drought,
Connecting heaven to the earth.
Shimmering joy fading the dearth,
Melodious with my eyes closed,
turns the blue black lakes' corners moist
And the heart, beats, not so slow....

The eyes of love you are,
The lady with the lamp
blinding the green-eyed monster,
Ending wars,
Turning off the lights,
Slumbering deep the past,
Starting from the start.

The pride of Lord,
Devil goes unheard!
Unites lovers' hearts,
Prevents sins - 'seven' times 'seven'!
A kiss and not an angry fist,
Can change forever the world....

Heslopian said:Write a poem from the first person perspective of someone passionately devoted to a religion, philosophy or life stance, like, for instance, secular humanism or Christianity. It doesn't have to be your own perspective; in fact, it'll be better if it isn't. Poems can be in any style, but no more than 50 lines. You may re-post an old poem of yours which fits this criteria, if you wish. Collaborations are also acceptable.
I posted two poems by mistake, will both be accepted?

Stockholm Syndrome

We've got fistfuls of misery.. Pistols and split-skulls, insults to injury,
Our history was bullshit.. Blissful ignorance, sinful synergy,
So criminal.. How this shit's pulled is a mystery.. Actually, it's not,
Minimal imagery and tragedy took casualties to plot..
Actively, it watches us.. Integral to victory, the faculty was shocked,
Went from miserable to sympathy, then rapidly.. it stopped..
No coverage from the news, or this supplemental government,
A fundamental covenant is troublesome to some,
But for others, not so cumbersome a punishment to come..
It only proves just how troubled we've become..
If the short of it's God failed, break ties and call it off,
Ordering cocktails.. Make mine a Molotov..
All is lost; I take it the lines have all been crossed,
Take your time.. I'm just saving mine for the holocaust,
Co-conspirators.. Civil disobedience,
Shifted the focus here, because the system's only lenience,
Is living astray.. It's our right to assemble,
But our right to free-speech was given away..
With a life on rental.. Fight to keep peace from hitting the fray,
And be the envy of kings.. Any means justifies the end,
But our legacy is everything, it must defy the trend,
Set to empty, it's a tendency we trust and try to mend,
Never lending a thing.. Anything so cut and dry will undermine again,
By my calculation.. Amalgamation of my decisions,
Having palpitations, the validation of my existence sent me to sing..
I just never had the voice.. Tried to reach you anyway, I've never had a choice,
'Til a populace acknowledges it's got no victims..
What it's got is hostages and Stockholm syndrome.
