My word was "Kitten"

Uneventfully, she came into this world to me
As close to perfection as any feline could ever be
Each and everyday I wished upon a star that
She would become a wonderful, inquisitive cat

As she grew, I knew that she was rare
That independent sashay, for help she'd never dare
To ask you for a solitary thing
Yet something about her, to me she'd always cling

Always giving her the very best
I always managed to clean up all of her mess
When times were hard, I'd hold her near
I tried to comfort each and every little fear

Maybe, just maybe that's where we came undone
I tried hard to hold her yet she wanted to run
To different places I never wanted her to go
The hand that fed her, she scratched deeply ...and so

She left me here, all alone
She left my world, now out on her own
"Hold on loosely" is the moral of that
for the "Kitten" always...... becomes a "Cat"

My word is "lines"

Reflecting her heart,
her skin has changed
She is older, tougher now than when
I loved the perfect blush of perfect cheeks

Now I love the creases at the corners of her eyes.

Life has drawn lines across her body
I kiss along them,
and love her even more.

My word was "dive"... I chose my favorite definition:

The Tally Ho

Take a plunge down the mountain,
away from the austere University
and its ivy-covered morals,
through the only two blocks left
that still qualify as “bustling,” then further,
getting seedier with every downhill block
and don’t change your direction
‘til you’ve hit the river.
It’s like the barkeep knew
what his bar was to become,
and picked the lowest point
to highlight the irony.

Seedier than a farm
and more wooly than a sheep,
the bouncer takes your ID
but reads your face instead.
Hands back your card silently
and resumes scanning for cherry-tops,
bouncer-speak for “you shall pass.”
Then into the darkness, hoping the guy
who pulled out his .45 last time
as a means of winning an argument
has already come and gone today.

The steel mills have been quiet for a decade now,
but patrons never really leave their bar of choice.
It brings a bit of shanty town into this little dying city.

Pfft, I got an easy, broad, and general one: Romance

It all started with dinner and a movie.
That moment when our hands touched
In the buttery, slippery popcorn
The whole world fell into place.
Something, like an electric current
Passed between us…
Forget the movie.

My work is skull.
  Her Greatest Attribute

I love the way your eyes roll around
Inside your perfectly formed eye sockets
The way the facial muscles pull the skin
Across such well-formed cheek bones,
The way you bear its prominent teeth
How your hair compliments its rounded shape
Such a lovely structure covered in softness
You owe your loveliness to what I hold so dear.

Oh dear! I should probably get to judging these. Let's say by Sunday, I'll have chosen a winner.
It's going to be hard, though.

My word was child:

20 some odd ago
A child sure he’d never know
What made the world tick
Now he’s found, he’d rather be
20 some odd ago.
