"Wise Poison"
My peppered-bearded friend, Robert, passed last night,
gave up the ghost at home, all alone in his bed at fifty-three.
A bit shocked, but, it was no real surprise,
he had lived a full life, the way he wanted it.
Lately, he been living a strict consistent
regimen of good aged Irish whiskey and filterless Camels.
Bob seemed to dance with death constantly, he
eschewed moderation and healthy living as
strategies to fight fear. He kept just a few friends near.
Lived headlong for adventure, a smoke in one fist,
a strong drink in the other, he did not tally calories,
opted for strong liquor over spring water, all of the time,
and never ever visited a head shrink,
always saying, “I think on my own.”
He was determined to be remembered,
his antics were quite legendary,
the last of the real wild cowboy tribe,
a genuine lover and giver, gave off good vibes.
A bohemian spirit dwelled in his soul,
a swell heart, he played the role well, and
had survived many dark shadows that swirled all around.
Old age would have been a blessing for him, but now,
I realize what drove him these past few years.
On his fiftieth year check-up, he had been given
two to three years of time to stay here on dear Earth.
Seems he chose his poison wisely, he made it to the three.
Maybe, I’ll walk away from my abstinence.
What do I have to lose, but a life living in fear!

Drip Drop
***
I can feel him in me
We become one
Two stone hearts
Joined by one thing
This attraction is deadly
One slip, and we'd fall
I know we'll never be
More than this
So these feelings I will dismiss
His venom shakes me to my core
I can't stop now
I'm ready for more
Losing life was least of my conserns
Missing this chance
This highschool romance
I'd rather die
Than to lose this life
I'd want to try
And enjoy his rusty knife
With the blood of others on our hands
Drip Drop
Tears fall
By a fallen angels call
Drip Drop
Poison of love
Brought my peace

"two men enter,one man leaves"
Pick your poison
at the gate
upon entering
Study
the tempting nectar
while obsession
lies lingering
Habitualize
the ritual
to find compulsion
as a settlement
a regiment of steady edginess
an emptiness
devoid of sentiment
treat it as a sacrament
and see the stars as high
as firmament
treat it as escape
and one too many
may be a too late

Bah I am at a stalemate in my own mind. If I choose the person that won in my mind, everyone else would think that I only did it because of the person, but if I don't then I will be giving the trophy to the wrong person. >_<. I have to go with the poetry not the poet. I hope you underestand.
