song lyrics competition

This song is a mix of ingredients Rome is a Luxembourgish neofolk band founded in November 2005 as a main output for the songs of Jérôme Reuter. Though Reuter is the main creative force in the band, he performs live with a range of musicians who also contribute performances on various studio recordings

“Uropia O Morte” by Rome delves into themes of disillusionment, resistance, and the struggle for change in the face of oppression. The song critiques political and social structures, highlighting the disheartenment felt by marginalized and oppressed individuals.

Through vivid and metaphorical language, it questions the motives and actions of those in power1. The phrase “Uropia o morte” combines “utopia” and “euphoria,” suggesting an idealistic yet contradictory state of being—a call for change or a plea for a better future

[Verse 1]
Our eagle, once proud, soon old and croaking
Our chants, once loud, will quiet down, hearts broken
Your hopes always were airy and unreal
'Cause you try not to see what's there for you to see

[Pre-Chorus]
You said we didn't bleed enough
Are we bleeding enough for you now?
You said we didn't bleed enough
Are we bleeding enough for you now?

[Chorus]
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte

[Verse 2]
We are the snakes lurching in the laurels, when you pin medals on thieves
Our cause, our source, they rose from secret fields
Are we to dance in the ashes of your hate?
And if by chance war is won, treat it as a wake

[Pre-Chorus]
You said we didn't bleed enough
Are we bleeding enough for you now?
You said we didn't bleed enough
Are we bleeding enough for you now?
Oh, are you sure
We're not bleeding enough for you now?
Are you sure
We're not bleeding enough for you now?

[Chorus]
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte
Lei-la-la-lei, lei-la-la-lei
Uropia o morte

[Outro]
You said we didn't bleed enough
Are we bleeding enough for you now?
You said we didn't bleed enough
Aren't we bleeding enough for you now?
Oh, are you sure
We're not bleeding enough for you now?
Oh, are you sure
We're not bleeding enough for you now?

Bleeding

In the moon’s tender glow hearts ache
and weep for love unrequited,
secrets buried deep.

They bleed for stolen kisses,
promises untold.
In the quiet of night,
where passion takes hold.

Raindrops fall like tears tracing
sorrow’s path, for friendships shattered
dreams that couldn’t last.

They bleed for memories etched
in fading ink and the ache of absence
when loved ones sink.

Against taunting tornadoes they stand
their ground, bleeding resilience,
courage profound.

For every battle fought, scars etched
on skin, they bleed for survival
refusing to give in.

In gardens of thorns,
where pains bloom bright,
they bleed for artistry, for colors in flight.

For the fragile petals
kissed by morning dew,
they bleed for beauty both old and anew.

Across continents souls seek their place.
Bleeding purpose into existence’s embrace.
They bleed for meaning, for stories left untold.
In the cosmic tapestry all threads of gold.

In shadows’ embrace, where sins shine,
they bleed for forgiveness, a chance to realign.
For every wrong committed, every tear shed.
They bleed for redemption, hearts heavy with dread.

On shores of uncertainty, where waves collide,
they bleed for liberation, for oceans wide.
For breaking chains defying fate’s decree.
They bleed for freedom, wild and fresh.

So let the poet’s pen bleed ink upon the page.
Weaving tales of courage, love and rage.
In life’s odd perspective where wounds may scar.
We bleed for what matters - each beating star.

**Bleeding Enough**

Our eagle, once proud, now croaks old,
Chants of glory, now hearts cold.
Hopes that soared, unreal, frail,
Blind to truths beneath the veil.

You said we lacked the crimson tide,
Now we bleed, no place to hide.
You said we lacked the crimson tide,
Is this enough, our pain supplied?

Lei-la-la-lei, the cry resounds,
Uropia or death, the battleground.
Lei-la-la-lei, the cry resounds,
Uropia or death, we’re bound.

We are the snakes in shadows deep,
Medals pinned where thieves creep.
From secret fields our cause arose,
In ashes, will we find repose?

You said we lacked the crimson tide,
Now we bleed, no place to hide.
You said we lacked the crimson tide,
Is this enough, our pain supplied?
Oh, are you sure,
We don’t bleed enough for you now?

Lei-la-la-lei, the cry resounds,
Uropia or death, the battleground.
Lei-la-la-lei, the cry resounds,
Uropia or death, we’re bound.

In final breath, we question how,
Is our blood not enough for you now?

Crying Break

All day I keep it locked inside of me
Don't want the world to see
What you have done to me
But when the sun goes down and it grows dark
It's time to take, a crying break
And rest my heart.

I watch the clock until it's time to go
My, but the hours go slow
I hope my tears don't show
The last thing that I need is sympathy
Just let me take, a crying break
That's all I need

Bridge:
I'll find a place where lights are low
And no-one knows my name
Have a drink, try not to think
While tears run down like rain

I always feel better when I'm through
Not nearly quite as blue
As when I first lost you
I try to hold up til the moment when
Its time to take, a crying break
And I cry again
Just let me take, a crying break
And cry again

Confidence

I couldn't lie to you
Even if you want me to
Hell, I find it hard these days
To just deceive myself.
I've been known to dream and scheme
For happiness, like when you'd bring me
Tiny presents that I keep
Like trophies, on a shelf.

And I could not stay here any longer
You sit there and nod your head
Tell me that I'm right.
I mistook your resilience
For another type of competence
I'd have a lot more confidence
If you'd put up a fight.

You were just pretending
And I was condescending
Guess neither one of us could stand
To face this world alone
Now you've lost me in the shades of gray
It's not a place I think I'll stay
Don't want to wake up someday
And find I've turned to stone

And I could not stay here any longer
You sit there and nod your head
Tell me that I'm right.
I mistook your resilience
For another type of competence
I'd have a lot more confidence
If you'd put up a fight.

Glory for Rations

There was an outpouring
Time used and not spent
down slots
Of old machines
Where the jackpot was kept
Within the cage

Rolling...  it rolled

By vision not not
not fear
Did our fingers tremble
tremble tremble
From exhausted sinews

And the gaze over taped up spectacle
Was a vertical one
The vertical expanded
the horizontals' possibility

One of our own
Covered
Under the shadow of His wing

A thousand purposes laid through the field
And the bloody fist apon the plow
Felt altogether awful to the summers touch

But the Son saw something in it.

And the straw, it rolled  rolled
Rolled into hay
And the hay hay
Hay
It glittered.

It glittered like Gold
