Institution

Professionals always playing with me
This crazy game is my reality
Spinning thoughts are constantly in my head
This mental abuse I wish I was dead

But I'm confined in this institution
How did I get in this situation
The echoes outside my imprisoned walls
Helping me escape but my freedom falls

Controlled by the hands that dictate this game
Knowing this I will never be the same
Please put me down so I can sleep at night
Because you never can make me feel right

A microcasm to the world you know
We are just prisoners watching this show

My pleasure. A fine poem you've written, too. Well done 👍👍👍

Picking a winner of this competition proved to be extremely difficult due to the extremely high standards of the poems submitted. 🤔 After careful consideration of all the entries, reading and re-reading each of them, I decided eventually to award the trophy to Rew, whose poem just shaded the others by the finest of margins. So well done, Rew. You're the Champ!🏆

There doesn't seem a dedicated place
to respond to a comp so I shall place
it here and say it is very rewarding to have
ones hard work recognised with a Cup.

Especially when reading my fellow
competitor's hard work to find that
there's not much between us. For me
the prompt worked and by looking at
the other entries it worked for others
too. I guess I got lucky. Thanks for the
competition, it made me work hard.

In a bid to exorcise from my Soul the Demons of that frequent experience, I invite all of you lovely Deep Undergrounders to write a Sonnet of any type on the same subject without using the word 'white'.

Bonus points for imagination. 🙃

I'll judge.
Two weeks.
