Your Spirit Animal
The Loss
The loss of a pet
hits harder than you expect
when that little soul departs
for the rainbow hill in the sky
you are left with an emptiness
a pain like nothing you have experienced.
An ache so intense
it creates a void in your heart.
But as the days pass
memories start to patch it up
and eventually the chasm becomes a hole.
Stuffed with beautiful comforting moments.
When you remember how intensely they loved you,
how they were a part of your family
as surely as humans are.
How lucky you was to have the devotion of a dog.
In memory of all the Rovers, Harrys, Millies and Lucys

"Miss Cat Lady"
That it is a cat
Might take some aback
Insomuch that
To some it might lack
A little creativity
Because it's only
Three letters simply
Which could mean I'm making it easy
For myself and normally
The critic in me would agree
So I must prove it's not even a joke, my affinity
For this beautiful creature, spiritually
That cats are animals I simply love undoubtedly...
I have often confessed to those close to me
That if reincarnation was real, a cat's what I'd be
Truthfully, and I know the notion's silly
And have many questioning my Sanity
And well, what I say to that is, God created me
Like this, Yes, this humble vessel, He
Made in His image, Only,
And it enhances the reason and fact perfectly
Of how we all were made, out of love, and freely
Have the capacity to love all His creations unconditionally...
So, if my love of a simple animal as a cat
Is what inspired this we call poetry and that
I can actually see myself in a house full of cats
Well, so be it, be free to call me
"Miss Cat Lady"...
