Descent of the Sunset Dragon

dragon wings glide
beneath receding sky
buoyant menace
on unsuspecting fly
Merlins’ staff
raised to heavens
keeping soul
of descent alive
drunken eye
sinking beneath
the plane of humane
capturing the flame
of its gaze
world above framed
multitude plummit to graves
quiet furnace
hot hearth of coals
boiling belly
of flying knave
white dwarf
crescendo
illumination rising
choking volcanic force
accelerating ascent
through bottleneck
spewing forth melted
Agincourt mud
spraying out
fanning red death
corporeal waves
of erupting breath
black smoke chimneying
nostrils hexate
centrifuge ceiling
forming nimbus cloud
northern tornado rising
vermilion aurora
flashing forth
catapulting wormwood skies
thujone injection
copulating
corpulent souls
out of opiated mind
consummating
above quiet world
combing down emotion
drawing all
carrying away
on the back of
iron bombastic beast
to silent depths

Morgana spelling
its’ return
for another conjuring day

tempestuous
alchemical muse……….

Beyond delight

Trying to hold on to the edge of day
basked at dawn or sunset
pure nakedness displays its fire
black profiled hills, framed by gilded clouds
leaching thro your pores.
Ease the days frustrations
ripples soothe away the strain,
waters painted with the glow
the massage of its ebb and flow.
in its dance of liquid embers.
the ignitions soothing voice
shines velvet on the foreground mud
the broken rock where life evolved
no human hand despoils that panorama
pure majesty its breath of Karma

Sunset Sinks Into The  Crying Ocean

a globe of fire flickering out
last rays are bright but offer
no warmth

drinks glide down my throat
in an abundance of ice
the cold comfort of fermented
sanity
a light buzz as the sun cuts through
the glint of waves
rocks crunch beneath my toes

I sit beside the esky
reflecting
a choppy sea of things I should have said
regrets tight around my throat
a noose

a slow burn
that has seen the world turn
a new way to measure things that are gone
I should have followed you
kicked down your door

held you
your fist hammering into my chest
let you wallow in your own self sacrifice
the feeling of thuds against my skin
an attempt at atonement

but what would I know
I'm a simple creature that likes
easy metaphors and soft thighs
nothing hard
like conversation
or self reflection that isn't broken
by an undulating surface
mirrors are too harsh for me
it's cruel
shows too much

so I drink
I smoke
wait for the whisper of your voice
to cut into my flesh
as if it's wind blown sand

Hi Rianne
sorry for late reply as I lost track of this after the comp ended
but thanks very much for your recognition and how the dragon has resonated
especially with the Norse and Germanic mythologies that I have strong connection and inspiration from
and deep roots into the Celtic
I was glad your cool photo gave opportunity for this mighty beast to claim the skies once again
