Poetry Contest Description
New Member of the Month Feature!

Welcome to "New Member of the Month"!
You have 3 weeks to nominate Your favorite poems from a NEW DUP poet - someone who has been a member for no more than six months.
To locate New Members simply click on 'Poems' > *Latest Poems > Sort Poems > New Members!
Please note the following guidelines when making nominations:
1. Self nominations are not accepted. The great majority of the competitions here are about spotlighting one's own work on a particular topic or theme. This is a chance to nominate that poem that you wish you had written but some other great talent here beat you to it.
2. Until this comp is established, there is no limit to nominations; however, you can't nominate more than one poem per individual new member. *****
3. No DUPLICATES. If someone nominates the same poem the entry will be deleted. If you like it that much wait and vote for it!
4. Any genre except erotica or pornography. This is a Facebook feature and we must adhere to their guidelines.
5. Any member who is banned or disables their account PRIOR to the win will be automatically disqualified.
6. One win per member per calendar year ( 12 months ).
7. All nominators should notify their nominees of nominations.
8. PLEASE DON’T NOMINATE RECENT WINNERS ( see list below )
Any nominated member who wishes to opt out of the competition may do so by messaging me. I will contact the person who nominated you and request an alternate nomination.
Nomination Duration is 3 weeks followed by a week of site voting!

Hi Chords! Thank you for nominating this fantastic piece by adagio! Unfortunately, this particular comp thread is for the nomination of new members. Please delete your submission and feel free to carry it over to the Poem of the Month comp, which is also a really fantastic way to nominate any DU members poetry that you are moved by!! Thanks!

Thanks, Francisco for the nomination of three great pieces by new DU members. And thank you for your continuous support of new members each month!

I can't seem to be able to delete the submission by Adiago I posted.

I guess I'm just dumb.lol. I clicked on edit, deleted it, then all it says is modify. I clicked that and it bounces back. Is there anyway you can remove it for me?

I'm sorry

Thank you

Lucifer's Marionette
How can I possibly find the way
that leads me back
to love
to life,
when I can't even find
a trail that takes me off this road
of utter darkness?
Despair
is so thick, it suffocates all hope.
Not one sliver of light
pierces
the canopy of my desolate forest.
I still hear your voice.
It calls to me like siren song.
Unquestioned,
my heart obeys it's seductive command,
Blindly,
I'm running headlong into
the Abyss.
I trip over
the skeletons of my past,
I fall into
pits that were dug by my own hands.
The demons I've collected
over the years like gemstones,
assail me with
claw
and tooth
and tail.
Dragons crawl fourth from the recesses of
my fractured soul.
Their firery breath leaves me
scorched
to the bone by grief.
I find myself alone,
scaling jagged canyon walls
and descending on hands and knees
the steep muddy banks
of raging rivers,
finding with my groping desperate hands,
the still smoldering piles of ash
of the bridges
I once enthusiastically
used my only torch to burn.
Hysterically laughing now,
I curse the irony of
my self imposed fate.
I turn aimlessly around
and continue on into the black wasteland.
I'm bruised and bleeding
Broken
in both body and mind.
But like a marionette
with Lucifer pulling the strings,
I gleefully dance
and skip and twirl,
down the path of
total destruction.
