Poetry Makes the World Go Round
My name is Walter, but my friends call me Wally,
I graduated high school in nineteen ninety-two,
Just to be clear, I’ve been writing for thirty years,
Now I’m happy to share something new with you.
In the digital age and I found a web page,
A home where I could post and share my poems,
But the site shut down and though I looked around,
For years I was “homeless” so I continued to roam.
One day then as I searched the web again,
I came across and found the Deep Underground,
The poetry was bangin’ and the poets were slammin’
An all-night café where I could hang around.
In DUP I found a place that I came to embrace,
Exchanging ideas and other versatile notions,
Here I learned to expand and came to understand,
Poets change the world sharing personal emotions.
DUP is a corner in the world where talents can unfurl,
Inspiring poets to wonder, explore and reflect,
Creating new connections and grammatical inflexions,
Rousing writers to earn recognition and respect.
The best part about the Underground it’s the special sound,
It’s the voice of poets who’ve come to be heard,
Poetry makes the world go round, in every country and town,
DUP is the place to be where poets can spread the word.
