A LA PLAYA - A Villanelle

Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach
So elegant, so statuesque, goddess of the waves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach

Spanish guitar serenade punctuated by seagull's screech
Romantic Sun radiates the heat her body craves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach

Alluring smile, Venus curves beauties gospel preach
Imagining the seductive scene my every thought enslaves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach

Caressing breeze, sand, and the sea relaxation teach
Free from worry, free from care, free from office caves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach

Bare breasted, euro-style, bikini bottoms a shade of peach
Conjured pictures flood the brain while body misbehaves
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach

Vacation sadly over now “*Once more unto the breach.”
I continue the mundane, she sweet memory saves
Shades on, blanket spread, laying on the beach
Caught firmly in my neural net yet sadly out of reach

*William Shakespeare: Henry V: Act 3, Scene 1

GETTING THE MESSAGE - A Villanelle

Tell the truth, have you ever loved me?
As much as the old boyfriend you’re texting
Happiness found in could-have-been dreams instead of reality

When we make love, am I a merely a proxy
Gullible substitute for whom you’re obsessing
Tell the truth, have you ever loved me?

Has he some extraordinary sensual ability?
In a contest of looks he’s surely not winning
Happiness found in could-have-been dreams instead of reality

It seems you don’t even like me lately
For this I’ll admit I’ve stopped trying
Tell the truth, have you ever loved me?

He’s got no job, for heaven’s sake, what in him do see?
Do you think that for you he’ll be changing?
Happiness found in could-have-been dreams instead of reality

Wonderful times we’ve had, I think that you’ll agree
I only hope that, in the end, they will count for something
Tell the truth, have you ever loved me?
Happiness found in could-have-been dreams instead of reality

Sacrament

a "villanelle érotique"

Hands raised, from knees, invoke my soul’s baptize.
Your alabaster fount, your holy site,
Where lips do part that mouth your praise reprise.

You knelt, the liturgy of love devise,
To lead me here, my offering  excite,
Hands raised, from knees, invoke my soul’s baptize.

In genuflecting waves, ecstatic rise,
Your pilgrim sojourn end with psalms delight,
Where lips do part that mouth your praise reprise.

I drop to bow, novitiate revise,
To raise with sacred tongue your pyre’s ignite.
Hands raised, from knees, invoke my soul’s baptize.

Like supplicant to eucharist arise,
I take your host and wine with heart contrite,
Where lips do part that mouth your praise reprise.

In worship’s grace and scripture’s energize,
Like Lourdes, your waters cleanse my sins benight,
Hands raised, from knees, invoke my soul’s baptize,
Where lips do part that mouth your praise reprise.

Thanks to our host eswaller and a huge thank you to those who voted - I have been caught utterly off guard by this and I am deeply humbled and honored.

Congratulations to Gahddess for two splendid entries as well as applause to all who entered...each entry for one reason or another left me speechless...

Thank you again!

xoxo Taryn
