Hello Poets,

This is my first thread after all the years I've been here, while the site is nearing its end. I thought it fitting to create a separate post from the main announcement, as it might become lengthy. I wanted to share a little bit since we must bid each other farewell. I first joined this site in 2018, following the recommendation of a fellow poet and friend from Booksie. As an Orthodox Christian who grew up Catholic in New Orleans, I have long favored expressions of the dark and pieces involving the Christian faith. Over the years, my subject matter and style have varied, but my readers have always been my favorite part. I couldn't tell you how excited I was to see notifications of someone commenting, saving, or interacting with my work. As a writer, it's the highest form of enjoyment to see others appreciate your contributions.

Even with the advent of AI and cheaply generated writing, this site has remained creative and open to original work. I have a premium Grammarly subscription, so I understand the struggle of balancing generative content with using an automated editor. Unfortunately, in recent years, it has leaned more towards generative content, and using it to check my writing has left a bad taste in my mouth. As a result, I've ended up canceling my subscription, as I couldn't in good faith support anything that stifles organic creativity. But I digress; this site has become something of a home for me to share the couplets that often inhabit my mind during twilight hours. It's here that I loved sharing both individually and occasionally in competitions. There's a lot of talent here, and I wish I had more time to read all of it.

For those of you who have stuck by my journey through roads forsaken and forgotten, I say thank you. It has been a pleasure, and for those who just stopped by, I also hold you in deepest gratitude. Taking the time to follow and interact has been a wonderful experience since day one. I do hope we all run into each other again, whether in this life or the next. I've included an email address for you to reach out if you feel so inclined. But until we meet again on roads less traveled and under darkened skies.

With kindest regards,
ThePalestRider
