Heaven Can Wait

Heaven can wait…
Death a distant thunderstorm
with lightning strikes far off
announcing its distant presence.

Suicide is not the answer.
I do not want to hurt
those that show compassion.
So, I’ve decided Heaven can wait.

The Steps (Suicide content Warning)

I stand at the bottom of the cliffs
A staircase winds up
Through the gorse and bracken
Its night, I'm alone, I can smell the sea.

Each step up brings me closer to the cliffs
Closer to the memorial benches
The rabbit nibbled grass
The rickety wood and wire fence
The sign warning of the drop

Up I climb
Rising closer to the top

When I am half way
I feel like turning back
I don't. I climb

I reach the top
Metres from the edge
The breeze from the sea is cooler up here
The orange lamps from town are dotted
Pearls and rubies zip along the roads
Taxis comb the dead hours

I aim to jump
To fall and turn into a raven
Then fly out to sea and never be seen

Then I stop myself
What if I hit the rocks below
What would my mother think
Someone will have to scoop up my body and identify me
I couldn't break her heart
On the small chance that I would be transformed

So I climb back down the steps
Past the thorns and bracken
To the concrete streets below

Foot note

I won't let the bastards win.

Dying One day..

Dying one day..

Ok, since this will become instant
Some day, any time
Why am I still trying to distant?
Myself from the act of taking own life
I mean, isn't it the real fact ever?
Dying one day..
But then I'm a Mollusc male
If not for anything else
It's in my nature
Slow and steady
It certainly wins a race
In my own case, it simply keeps me safe
Suicide not my type
Not my style
Satisfactorily,
All I need is to live
And when It's time
I simply die..

Mollusc Man

Big Black Bird

Madness
Humming, an old woman rocks herself
A man repeats a word again and again
Two older women are fighting for a doll
Somewhere a. radio is blaring loud
Another ordinary day begins as usual
And I am part of this community of fate
My new home is a caring home

Defect entity
A thinking mind and a loving heart
Locked in a frail disabled body
One of God"s abandoned children
Superfluous and useless for society
Mercíless sorted out and deported
A deeply desperate fallen angel
With unsuitable disheveled wings

Black bird’s call
This isn't a life worth living anymore
Stupid games, meaningless small talk
The same routine day in and day out
I feel drained, like mentally starving
Will this situation ever change?
Out of nowhere a seducing voice
Big black bird is calling my name

Answering the call
On velvet paws I sneak to a nurse room
A strong sleeping pill catches my eye
It will carry me to the shadow world
Reaching out for my one way ticket
An insight strikes me like thunder
My action will get the nurse in trouble!
I don't want to harm anybody, never ever!

Ray of hope
Silently weeping, I return to my room
Outside the sun is about to set
The sky blushes in my favorite colors
I watch this natural spectacle in awe
What a beautiful place this earth is!
Wait a little longer, big back bird
The time to follow you isn't ripe yet!

My Reason

The sand felt warm under my feet
as I walked closer to the sea,
the waves ebbing and flowing,
an invitation to approach.

The first contact with water
was like a kiss from nature,
bringing life back into me,
to mend something it didn’t break.

The depths of blue reached my waist,
slowly engulfing me, inch by inch,
with fingers curling around my neck,
trying to squeeze life out of me instead.

So I let it wreathe around my body,
hoping to drown in its embrace,
to dilute the twisting ache,
to dull the crushing agony.

Yet when I looked up at the sky,
all I wanted was a reason to stay.
So I begged the clouds for a sign,
and sobbed to the tide to carry me back.

The most tender tap on my shoulder
drew me out of my mind’s dark.
With eyes and a smile like hers,
she took my hand and led me to the shore.

She was my reason.
I am my own reason.
