Here are the messages! Enjoy!

1. Lobster - Let go of the past

Lobster continually grows throughout its life, shedding its shell and forming a new one in its place each time. It also has the ability to remove its claws and legs to use as decoys when it is escaping from predators. It then regenerates the lost body part. Learn from Lobster that it is okay and even necessary to let go of the past. Now is a time for emotional growth. Don’t get caught up in your old story or paradigm. Release what no longer serves you, whether it is your thoughts or your current situation. You have the ability to regenerate yourself. Trust that the resources you need to help you change and grow are there for you. You are not stuck in your situation. It is time to move forward.

Lobster qualities: letting go of the past, emotional growth, independence, solitude, longevity, regeneration, rejuvenation, emotional balance, resourceful, leadership, protection, strength, nobility, discovery

“I let go of the past.”

2. Scallop - Open your mind

Scallop is free-swimming rather than sedentary like its clam and oyster relatives. Is has a strong muscle that opens and closes its two shell halves, using jet propulsion to move through the water. It has multiple blue-colored “eyes” that allow it to detect light, dark, and motion. Scallop is here with a message to open your mind, spirit, and emotion. Not everything is seen with your eyes. Use your other senses, including your third eye to understand the world around you. Freedom is yours when you open up to the possibilities. Filter information coming to you, and take action when it strikes you. There is no where you cannot go. Make the most of opportunities coming your way.

Scallop qualities: opening up, vision, movement, opportunity, determination, evasive, sensing, symmetrical, balance, protection, freedom, filtering, active

“I open my mind to new possibilities.”

3. Stonefish - Watch your step

Stonefish is one of the most lethal animals in the world. It has venom sacs on it back, which are used as a defense mechanism, rather than for hunting. It camouflages itself very well with its surrounding environment, making it difficult to notice. It’s often mistaken for a stone or part of the coral reef. Stonefish comes to you with a warning to watch your step at this time. Be cautious with each move you make. There may be some hidden danger in your situation right now. Sometimes we need to move with detailed precision, calculating our every step. Now is that moment. Remain grounded and take precaution to protect yourself from outside forces. You may want to remain hidden in the background until the time is right.

Stonefish qualities: camouflage, grounded, protection, venomous

“I make precise, calculated moves.”

Nice. It has been a long time since I've exercised my other senses.

I've always been drawn to the idea of being guided by cards.  Thank you for this! xo

Nothing is random for sure; nor coincidence. It's interesting how the cards resonate with each individual person. Happy you enjoyed! 😊❤

Hello A...yes that chopping wood carry water is a very famous Zen saying. And we often forget that none of us are islands and everything is connected and interdendent.

I certainly believe that being in the moment is extremely important...and a very practical way to train your mind. In Zen practice it is the simple reminder to "Pay Attention"...when washing dishes, just wash the dishes...when crossing a busy street, just cross the street...or your karma will be hit by a car .

I love the wonderful freshness of early morning air...then I to light incense and then sit my aging body on my beloved zazen cushion (zafu) for my first sitting of the day. I don't chant or pray as such but I do recite the "Heart Sutra" every morning after sitting and my tai-chi.

I think rituals are very important in life...part of the whole paying attention...part of that includes the very ordinary in life...my keys have a permanent home...my mala beads...my bag, etc...one suffers a little less stress if one patterns one's life...ritualizes as much as one can...that way you are never running around searching for your car keys...or clean underwear .

I think gratitude and politeness are simple practices...although I still fail often, but that's OK...after all, enlightenment and delusion are two sides of the same coin.

Namaste my wonderful friend...stay well.
Harry XO

I absolutely agree, Harry! 💙

I think tangible objects are a bridge or portal between the physical and spiritual realms which create the belief of attainment, i.e. the resonance I feel after tapping my gong before prayer; or, the shadow of incense side-winding up a wall. The experience of transport is both humbling and divine.

As far as two sides of the coin, we may not be able to control how the coin lands; however, we certainly have the power to flip it over, my friend.

Namaste, Harry!  Stay well, my Friend! 🙏💙

Two quotes from the late American Zen Teacher, Maureen Stuart. If you get a chance her book is a very good read...she wrote it while in the process of dying of breast cancer.

"It is your life's work to wake up to the fact that you are enlightened from the beginning. So for me to do anything is redundant, superfluous, and downright intrusive."

“Become the person of no rank. Become the noble soul, and live in this awakened way, not imitating anyone. Whatever the circumstances your life asks of you, respond to them in your own individual Zen-spirited way. Don't waste any time trying to be someone else...We are not here to have someone else's experience. We are here to have our own vivid experience. So please don't cling to yesterday, to what happened, to what didn't happen. And do not judge today by yesterday. Let us just live today to the fullest! Moment after moment, each sitting is the only sitting.”

Wonderful and truth-filled quotes, Harry. Thank you for sharing. I will have to look her up. I lost a life-long friend to breast cancer over a year ago, and another is in treatment now.

For anyone who is interested in the Zen meditation known as zazen..."Just Sitting"...shikantaza. This is a short wonderful explanation by, Shōhaku Okumura (奥村 正博, b. 22 June 1948) he is a Japanese Sōtō Zen priest and the founder and abbot of the Sanshin Zen Community located in Bloomington, Indiana, where he and his family currently live.

I can't remeber where I put my Dungeons & Dragons dice, so I drew #2 again from the hat.
